Fujiko Fujio's robot cat to debut on Amazon Kindle this fall

Fujiko F. Fujio Productions, Japanese multimedia producer Voyager Japan, and translation company AltJapan will release the Doraemon manga in English and in full color digitally this fall. Voyager Japan announced the release at 2013 International eBook Expo in Tokyo earlier this month, followed by a second announcement at the "Beyond the Valley of Tezuka: Manga Legends You Don't Know (But Should Know)" panel at Comic-Con International last week. The series has not been formally released in English before.

The series will be released on the Amazon Kindle e-book platform and possibly other e-publishing platforms in the future, with a Spanish translation planned for next year. There are no plans to release the series in print.

The manga creator duo Fujiko Fujio debuted their famous robot cat manga in 1969, and the series was compiled into 45 collected volumes before it ended in 1996. The manga inspired three television anime series that have collectively lasted over three decades, television specials, and yearly anime films.
