posted on by Egan Loo
Studio DEEN has produced an anime promotional video for its four-panel manga I wanna be! (Waanabi.jk), and it will offer the video on a DVD at Comic Market next month.
The weekly slice-of-life web manga by Kenichi Kuroi (Zenbu Eroi Sensha.) centers around the dreams and aspirations of four third-year girls at a private girls' high school:
Moraru Takatsuki (voiced by Shiori Mikami) who dreams of becoming a charismatic idol
Yumi Torii (Haruka Terui) whose future path is still up in the air
Ami Yanagisawa (Sora Tokui) who dreams of travelling the world as freelance photographer
Mutsu Sasanaka (Aina Kusuda) who dreams of landing a job at a famous publicly listed corporation after college
The project's concept was created by Tomoya Takahashi (Dennō Coil assistant director), who also serves as the sound director. "Super animator" Tetsuya Takeuchi (Yomigaeru Sora - RESCUE WINGS -, Yuri Seijin Naoko-san) designed the characters.
Studio DEEN will offer the DVD with a manga/art collection booklet, and it will also sell a drama CD by Katsuhiko Takayama (Sasami-san@Ganbaranai, The Future Diary, Dusk maiden of Amnesia). Besides the promotional video, the DVD will include a roundtable discussion by the cast, and the theme song by Vocaloid Aoki Lapis and her real-life voice Nako Eguchi. The 40-page booklet will have four-panel strips (including at least one exclusive to the booklet), the key animation drawings from the promotional video, production designs, comments from the cast, and cover art by Kuroi. The cast wil appear at the Cosmic Record/Studio DEEN booth at Comic Market on August 11 and 12.
