Kekkaishi author began manga in Shonen Sunday last month

This year's 36/37th issue of Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Kekkaishi manga creator Yellow Tanabe's Birdmen manga will go on hiatus until the magazine's 46th issue, which is scheduled to be released on October 16. The magazine also announced that Shogakukan will be releasing the first compiled volume of the manga around October 18. Watanabe began the manga in Shonen Sunday last month.

Yellow Tanabe began serializing Kekkaishi in Shonen Sunday in 2003 and ended it after eight years in 2011. An anime version aired in Japan from 2006 to 2008. Viz Media licensed both the manga and anime for North American distribution, with the anime running on Cartoon Network's sibling Adult Swim.
