The Great Beauty Wins Golden Globe Over The Wind Rises

Hayao Miyazaki's 11th and final film The Wind Rises lost to The Great Beauty (La grande bellezza) by Italy's Paolo Sorrentino at the 71st Annual Golden Globes on Sunday. The Wind Rises was also competing against France's Blue is the Warmest Color, Denmark's The Hunt, and Iran's The Past in the Best Foreign Language Film category. It was not nominated for Best Animated Feature Film.
The Wind Rises has also been submitted for an Oscar nomination. The film was nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards but did not win, and has been nominated for an Annie Award and a Satellite Award. The Wind Rises has also recently won the Best Animated Film Award from the New York Film Critics Circle, The National Board of Review, The Boston Society of Film Critics, the San Diego Film Critics Society, The Chicago Film Critics Association, the Online Film Critics Society, and the Toronto Film Critics Association.
