Japanese video game publisher Marvelous AQL confirmed with the video game news website VG 24/7 on Monday that the European release of the fantasy role-playing game Rune Factory 4 is canceled.

Marvelous AQL issued the following statement to VG247:

We regret to inform you that the European release of Rune Factory 4 for Nintendo 3DS has been cancelled.

While MarvelousAQL has made every effort to secure the title's release for this territory, it is, unfortunately, not possible to do so at this time.

MAQL and MAQL Europe would like to thank everyone for their support and enthusiasm for their European releases. Please look forward to announcements on new MAQL titles over the coming months.

Last November, Rune Factory 4 developer Neverland filed for bankruptcy. Neverland stated that the causes behind its bankruptcy included slow sales, excessive loan repayments, and failure of financing efforts.

XSEED Games most recently released Rune Factory 4 for the Nintendo 3DS in North America on October 2013. Neverland released the game in Japan in July 2012.
