The seventh and final volume of Mobile Suit Gundam UC premiered on 35 screens on Saturday and ranked third in Japan's ticket sales for the weekend, after Disney's Frozen and the live-action Thermae Romae II. The film sold 98,208 tickets and earned 157,182,200 yen (about US$1,551,00).

The 90-minute episode, titled "Niji no Kanata ni" (Over the Rainbow), also screened in advance at Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater, Osaka's Namba Parks Cinema and Osaka Station City Cinema, and Nagoya's Midland Square Cinema on May 16. A stage greeting event with cast and staff members was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly and streamed at the other locations.

Theaters sold advance copies of the Blu-ray Disc, and other retailers will offer a home video release on June 6.

The Saturday premiere also featured a 90-second promotional video of the first part of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime, which will open in theaters in Spring 2015.

The seven-episode video anime series debuted in 2010. Right Stuf and Sunrise are collaborating to release the series on DVD and Blu-ray in North America with the English dub.
