Manga series based on Higurashi: When They Cry creator's original game ends

Square Enix's Gangan Online web comic magazine announced on Thursday that You Omura's Rose Guns Days Season 3 manga will end in its next chapter on March 5.

Omura launched the manga based on 07th Expansion's visual novel in Square Enix's Gangan Online web comic magazine in September 2013. Square Enix shipped the second compiled volume of Rose Guns Days Season 3 on December 22.

Ryukishi07 (Higurashi: When They Cry, Umineko When They Cry) created the original game's story which takes place in Japan after World War II. Devastated in the aftermath of defeat, the Japanese government complies with the Allies' reconstruction plan. Japan begins to recover from the loss after a few years, but America and China intricately divide control of the nation on a municipal level. The many Chinese and American immigrants make Japanese people the minority in their own land.

A girl named Rose Haibara works at the club Primavera and lends money to Japanese people so that they can rebuild their lives. Some people take advantage of that generosity. Meanwhile, Leo Shishigami is best known for his reputation among women. Everything begins to change when that legendary man meets Rose in the spring of 1947.

There are five other manga series based on the game. The Rose Guns Days: Fukushū wa Ōgon no Kaori manga launched in the June 2013 issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine and ended in its June 2014 issue. It is set a year earlier in 1946 and follows the harsh lives of Rose and the "women of the night" immediately after the war.

The Rose Guns Days Season 2 manga by artist Nana Natsuishi ended in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine last March and Sōichirō's Rose Guns Days Season 1 manga ended in Gangan Joker last February. The Rose Guns Days Final Season began serialization in the May 2014 issue of Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine.

A separate spinoff, Rose Guns Days: Aishū no Cross Knife by artist Tsuyoshi Takagi ran in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine and ended on December 2013.
