Marvelous announced during the 2016 PlayStation Press Conference on Tuesday that it will release footage from its Tōken Ranbu and Ensemble Stars! stage plays for PlayStation VR. The software will launch on October 13 to coincide with the PlayStation VR headset's release date. Each title will cost 1,500 yen (about US$15) on the PlayStation Store in Japan.

In both the Tōken Ranbu and Ensemble Stars! software, the viewer will be able to watch two songs from the play as if they are in a front row seat. Both will also feature backstage footage.

The Tōken Ranbu Kyoden: Moyuru Honnōji VR software will run for 8 minutes and will feature the songs "Kachidoki no Uta" and "Shin'ei no Honō," as well cast circle footage.

The play opened in Tokyo in May, and adapts developer DMM's online browser game that takes famous swords from Japanese history and interprets them as bishōnen. In addition to Marvelous' "straight play" adaptation, the game inspired a stage musical from Nelke Planning.

The Ensemble Stars! On Stage VR software will run for 18 minutes and will feature the songs "ONLY YOUR STARS!" and "Singin'☆Shine!," as well as footage from the in-story idol group Trickster's dressing room.

Ensemble Stars! On Stage adapts Happy Elements K.K's smartphone game about male idols. The play ran in Tokyo in June.

In related news, the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel began streaming a teaser video for the PlayStation VR headset. Software teased in the video includes Shin Godzilla Special Demo Contents, Miku: VR Future Live, The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Viewing Revolution, Summer Lesson and Cyber Danganronpa VR Gakkyū Saiban, among other titles. All of the above titles will be available on October 13.
