Aniplus Asia Adds Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid to VOD Service

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime premiered on January 11 with Aniplus-Asia simulcast

Aniplus-Asia revealed on Friday that it has added the Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid anime to its video-on-demand service.

Aniplus-Asia describes the anime:

Miss Kobayashi is an office worker who lives a boring life. One day, while drunk, she saves the life of a female dragon and invites her to her small apartment. The dragon, named Tohru, transforms into an adorable human girl dressed as a maid. With a devoted, high-spirited Dragon Maid as her roommate, Miss Kobayashi's normal life is about to change!

The anime premiered in Japan on January 11. Aniplus-Asia aired a simulcast of the anime in Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia.

Yasuhiro Takemoto (Amagi Brilliant Park, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Hyōka, Lucky Star) directed the anime at Kyoto Animation. Yuka Yamada (Neo Angelique Abyss, Samurai Warriors, Umi Monogatari) was in charge of the series scripts, and Miku Kadowaki (Amagi Brilliant Park, Beyond the Boundary) designed the characters.

Mikiko Watanabe was the art director, and Yūka Yoneda was the color key artist. Seiichi Akitake designed the props, and Akihiro Ura was director of photography. Yota Tsuruoka directed the sound, and Masumi Itou composed the music at Lantis. The band fhána performed the opening theme song "Aozora no Rhapsody," and the group Chōro-gonzu (the characters Tohru, Kanna, Eruma, and Rukoa) performed the ending theme song "Ishukan Communication."

The anime is based on Coolkyoushinja's ongoing manga series, which launched in the inaugural issue of Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine in May 2013. Futabasha published the manga's seventh volume on July 12. A spinoff manga titled Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Kanna's Daily Life launched last December, and another spinoff manga titled Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon Elma no OL Nikki launched in Monthly Action on August 25.
