Crayon Shin-chan's Action Kamen Hero Stars in His Own Manga
posted on by Karen Ressler
Last month, Futabasha launched its new Monthly Action magazine with Action Kamen, a manga series based on the hero of the same name in Yoshito Usui's comedy manga Crayon Shin-chan. Datto Nishiwaki (Fate/stay night manga) writes and draws the spinoff.
In the original Crayon Shin-chan manga, Action Kamen is Shin-chan's favorite superhero on television. The first chapter of the new Action Kamen manga stars Yashio, a boy searching for a serial assailant who is only targeting children. When Yashio is attacked himself, a mysterious hero appears.
Monthly Action's inaugural issue has over 800 pages of manga, such as Akureki by Enokids (Kotoura-san), Cool Kyōshinsha's Kobayashi-san no Maidragon, Keita Sugawara and Shinji Inamitsu's Murder Incarnation, Kōichi Ōnishi's Otome Sensō Divici Valka, Calyx by Sesuna Mikabe (Akuma-sama Help), Rikijo by Utamaro (Maji Bura!?), Sawamisono's Chichakoi Nikki, and Tenshin Kijima's Kanro ni Kataomoi.
Futabasha is promoting its new magazine with videos featuring a live-action version of Action Kamen in costume. Action Kamen made appearances at book stores and hobby stores in Tokyo's Akihabara the day before the magazine was released.
