The Quintessential Quintuplets New Anime Project Officially Greenlit!

At the “The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO” held today, Saturday, May 2, the launch of a new anime project for "The Quintessential Quintuplets" was announced. Along with the announcement, "The Quintessential Quintuplets” New Anime Project Visual and a teaser video were also unveiled.

"The Quintessential Quintuplets" New Anime Project Starts Now!

"The Quintessential Quintuplets" was serialized in "Weekly Shōnen Magazine" until February 2020 and has recorded a cumulative circulation of over 20 million copies to date (as of May 2026). The first season of the anime series aired from January to March 2019, followed by the second season from January to March 2021 on TBS and other networks. Since then, the movie "The Quintessential Quintuplets" was released in May 2022, and the TV special anime "The Quintessential Quintuplets Specials" and "The Quintessential Quintuplets Specials2" were screened in theaters and broadcast on TV. The series continues to enjoy immense popularity today.

"The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO," featuring the full main cast, included a “Quintuplets Game” as part of its talk and variety segment, as well as a newly written live reading by Keiichiro Oochi, based on a picture book from "The Quintessential Quintuplets," originally created and supervised by Negi Haruba, written by Masumi Asano, and illustrated by Monaka. During the live music segment, "Nakano Fes," the audience was thrilled by a total of 10 songs, including the TV special anime "The Quintessential Quintuplets Specials2" OP theme "Quintuplets' smiles”, Gotoubun no Princess: Gensō to Shin'en to Mahō Gakuin (tentatively translated as The Quintessential Quintuplets: Fantasy, the Abyss, and the Magic Academy)game theme song "To tomorrow," and Futaro Uesugi's (VA: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) character song "Iroasenai Kimochi."

The first new anime project announced during the event is the Anime adaptation of the novel "The Quintessential Quintuplets." It is a complete sequel novel written by Hajime Asano under the full supervision of original creator Negi Haruba, depicting the events following the original story. A manga adaptation project for this work is also currently underway.

The second project features brand-new anime adaptations of the original manga chapters not previously depicted in the anime series. Following the TV special animations "The Quintessential Quintuplets Specials" and "The Quintessential Quintuplets Specials2," this production is scheduled to deliver content that meets the expectations of fans who have wanted to see those scenes!
