King of Prism Game App's New Event Serves as Prequel to TV Anime

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New event will focus on Shin Ichijō entering school; TV, anime film debuts in spring 2019

The official Twitter account for the King of Prism: Prism Rush! LIVE smartphone game announced on Thursday that the game has launched a new story event titled "Road to Shiny Seven Stars" on Friday. The new event is the prequel to the upcoming King of Prism: Shiny Seven Stars television and film anime project. The event's story will focus on Shin Ichijō entering Kakyōin Academy in high school after Hiro Hayami wins the "Prism King Cup -Thunder Storm Session-."

The event also features Shin singing the song "HEART♥IRO♥TORI DREAM," the character song of the character Naru Ayase, the protagonist of the Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live 2013 anime. The event will reveal why Shin is singing that particular song.

The edited theatrical version and the television anime series will both premiere in spring 2019.

The anime will star:

Masakazu Hishida is returning from both KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm and King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO to direct the anime at Tatsunoko Pro, and Jou Aoba is returning to handle the series composition. Mai Matsuura is also returning from both films and is charge of both the original character designs and the anime designs. Rei Ishizuka is returning from King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO to compose the music.

The television anime will have 12 episodes, and the theatrical version will have four screenings, each screening an edited version of three episodes of the TV anime. At least the first film will premiere before the television anime series.

The first film in the franchise, KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm, opened in January 2016. The film earned more than 800 million yen (about US$7.8 million). The film screened at the Los Angeles Anime Film Festival (LA-AFF) event in September 2017.

The second film, King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO, opened in Japan in June 2017. The film earned more than 600 million yen (about US$5.28 million).

King of Prism is a spinoff of the Pretty Rhythm franchise.
