Sega Unveils Real-Time Strategy Game Revolve8 for Smartphones

Sega unveiled its new real-time strategy game Revolve8 for iOS and Android devices on Wednesday. The company has opened preregistration for a closed beta test that will take place from October 23 to November 2.

Sega describes the game:

This all-star team brings to the table a cast of funky Heroes who will shatter your expectations. The player wields a deck of 8 cards, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. They then aim to destroy their opponent's towers within the time limit of 3 minutes to achieve victory. The rules are simple, but the cards and powerful Hero skills they use opens up players to fun and strategic real-time duels.

The staff includes:

• Senior Producer: Masayoshi Kikuchi (Yakuza games)
• Character Designer: Koji Igarashi (Castlevania, Tokimeki Memorial)
• Character Artist: Ryota-H (Shingeki no Bahamut TWIN HEADS manga)
• Sound Producers: Shunsuke Tsuchiya (Stella Glow), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears)

Igarashi's redesigned fairy tale characters for the game include motorcycle-riding idol Cinderella, social media-obsessed Red Riding Hood, and vain explorer Sinbad. Several of the character designs are below:

Sega shared a trailer introducing the characters. The game's bookstore clerk Liesel narrates the video.

The company previously opened a teaser website in English and Japanese.
