Kingdom Hearts VR Experience Game Debuts on December 25, January 18

The official Japanese PlayStation blog announced on Monday that the "first part" of the Kingdom Hearts VR Experience virtual reality game will be available for free on the PlayStation 4 on December 25, with the second part available on January 18.

In addition, Sony's release of the VR experience for Hikaru Utada's two songs will be available on December 25 and early 2019. The VR experience for "Hikari" (Kingdom Hearts theme song) will be available for PlayStation Plus members on December 25. "Chikai" (Japanese version of "Don't Think Twice," the Kingdom Hearts III ending theme song), will be available with "Hikari" in early 2019 for free for all PlayStation VR users. The experience will be based on Utada's recent "Hikaru Utada Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018" concert tour.

Development on Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts III game wrapped last month. Square Enix will release Kingdom Hearts III on January 25 in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on January 29 in the West. Confirmed worlds include Big Hero 6, Toy Story, Tangled, Monsters, Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen, and the returning Olympus Coliseum and Winnie-the-Pooh worlds.

Music producer Skrillex, singer Hikaru Utada, and record producer Poo Bear are collaborating on the opening theme song "Face My Fears." The game's English audio will also feature returning cast members reprising their roles from various Disney films.

Game series director Tetsuya Nomura said during Tokyo Game Show in September that Kingdom Hearts III is "most definitely not the end of Kingdom Hearts. I'd like to continue Sora's story." Nomura again confirmed that the game will be the final game with Xehanort as the main enemy. Nomura also revealed during the event that the game will have a secret movie, but the staff are still deciding on how to implement the secret movie into the game.
