Marvel, Tsuburaya Productions Partner to Release Ultraman Comics Starting in 2020

Companies to announce creative teams for comics at a later date

Marvel Entertainment and Tsuburaya Productions announced at Tokyo Comic Con on Saturday that they will release new Ultraman stories through releases of comics and graphic novels starting in 2020. The companies will announce details of the creative teams working on the comics at a later date.

Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman franchise launched in 1966, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016. The latest series in the franchise is Ultraman Taiga, which premiered on July 6. The show will get a worldwide release in 2020. Tsuburaya Productions also debuted the Ultra Galaxy Fight online series on September 29, and the show is streaming on the company's YouTube channel with English subtitles and an English dub.

The first anime season for the 3D CG anime of Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi's Ultraman manga premiered globally on Netflix on April 1. The series will get a second season.

Studio Khara is producing a Shin Ultraman film that will debut in 2021. Shin Godzilla director Shinji Higuchi and his Higuchi-Gumi team are helming the project, and Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno is in charge of planning and scripts.
