The organizers for the Tokyo Comic-Con 2021 event announced on Friday that they have canceled this year's event due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Makuhari Messe event center from December 3 to December 5.
The staff then announced that they will hold Tokyo Comic-Con 2022 next year, as well as the first Osaka Comic-Con. Tokyo Comic-Con 2022 is scheduled for November 25 to 27 at the Makuhari Messe, while Osaka Comic-Con 2022 is scheduled for early summer 2022 or later at the Intex Osaka venue.
Last year's Tokyo Comic-Con 2020 event was held online due to COVID-19. The event began holding a yearly convention in 2016.
