Idoly Pride Manga Ends in Next Chapter

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Hiroki Haruse launched manga for idol franchise in June 2020

The official Twitter account for Kadokawa's Comic Newtype manga website revealed on Tuesday that Idoly Pride: Stage of Asterism, Hiroki Haruse's manga for the Idoly Pride multimedia idol project, will end with its next chapter. The announcement did not reveal when the final chapter would debut.

The franchise's story begins when high school students Kohei Makino and Mana Nagase meet. Kohei supports Mana's eventual rise to idol fame in the music industry, and becomes her producer after they graduate from high school. When a tragic accident takes Mana's life on the eve of an important idol contest, Kohei is distraught, but is then visited by Mana's ghost, unable to move on. Years pass, and Kohei still works in the same production company, now scouting out new talent for a new group idol project. Mana's younger sister Kotono applies at the company, seeking closure, and to finish what her departed sister started.

Haruse launched the manga in Comic Newtype in June 2020. Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume on April 2.

The franchise's anime premiered on Tokyo MX and other channels on January 10 and ended with its 12th episode on March 29. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The anime was CAAnimation's first project. CyberAgent, the parent company of game developer Cygames and streaming service company AbemaTV, founded the CAAnimation label in October 2018.

Haruse drew the Allison and Lillia & Treize manga, based on Keiichi Sigsawa light novels of the same name. The same novels inspired the Allison & Lillia television anime in 2008.
