ADV Films Announces November 2 Release Dates

HOUSTON, October 5, 2004—ADV Films, the #1 producer-distributor of anime in the U.S., today announced its November 2, 2004 street dates.

ROBOTECH® REMASTERED: NEW GENERATION

COLLECTION 1

Get ready for a blast from the past like you've never seen before! ADV Films is pleased to announce a street date of November 2, 2004 for the DVD release of Robotech Remastered: New Generation Collection 1, the sixth volume in the newly re-edited and re-mastered Robotech series, which includes an exclusive action figure from the series! The New Generation Collection, the third and final act of Robotech, has become one of the most critically acclaimed animated science fiction television series of all time. Often compared to Star Trek and Star Wars, Robotech is a uniquely addictive, multi-generational animated series that introduced thousands of Americans to the art form and cultural phenomenon that is anime.

The 2-disc set features never before seen footage and a fresh, clean digital transfer of Robotech from the original 16mm film stock, returning the series to a lovely and near-pristine state without compromising the character of the original animation.

In the aftermath of the war with the Robotech Masters, the Invid arrive on Earth to lay waste to the already battle-weary armies of The Southern Cross. Led by the Regis, their supreme ruler, the protoplasmic Invid turn Earth into a massive slave colony. Admiral Rick Hunter, leading an expeditionary force in search of the Robotech Masters' homeworld, sends reinforcements to help reclaim the Earth. After a spectacular battle, the expedition force is decimated, forcing Lt. Scott Bernard to assemble a ragtag squad of insurrectionists to liberate the Earth.

Robotech Remastered: New Generation Collection 1 (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release, including 13 complete episodes in both English 5.1 and Spanish 5.1 in a two-disc set, which includes an art box fitting both discs and an exclusive limited edition Super Veritech Morpher collectible that transforms from robot to spacecraft plus a power-packed pull back motor. The audio has been restored and remixed to create the highest-quality sound experience. New footage featuring scenes cut from the original broadcast version of Robotech has been added, including new opening and closing credits and eye catches, creating a never-before-seen version of this seminal adventure series.

NEW FIST OF THE NORTH STAR: THE FORBIDDEN FIST

It's time for some cranium carnage on November 2, 2004 when ADV Films unleashes the second DVD of the superb trilogy, the New Fist of the North Star: The Forbidden Fist. The New Fist of the North Star trilogy, released in Japan this year, is based on the popular Fist of the North Star manga series and classic anime feature film.

The Fist of the North Star manga debuted in the early 1980s, enthralling audiences and selling a staggering 60 million copies in five languages worldwide. The epic saga's success brought international renown to creators Buronson (writer) and Hara Tetsuo (artist,) and led to two hit television series, two animated feature films and one live action movie prior to this all new original animation version, the first to be written by Mr. Buronson himself. Fist of the North Star's trademark over-the-top violence and wildly exciting action sequences quickly became legendary, making the series a staple of Japanese pop culture. The series has been parodied in several prominent anime titles over the years, most recently in fan favorites Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi and Excel Saga, both of which are also available from ADV Films.

In the aftermath of Kenshiro's attack on the citadel of Last Land, the boy known as Lord Doha falls deathly ill. Sara's prognosis is dire. The serum to save his life is a two day drive each way. There is a shorter path…but it runs through Cliffland, a land haunted by demons that practice a mysterious killing technique. Meanwhile, a new mysterious warrior arrives in Last Land, vowing to take all that Sanga has claimed. The balance of power is once again thrown into chaos as fist is pitted against fist in a struggle to see whose justice will prevail.

New Fist of the North Star: The Forbidden Fist (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release, including one 55-minute feature presented in letterbox format with audio in English 5.1 and Japanese 5.1 with English subtitles. Extras include and interview with Gackt: The Challenge of the First Time Voice Actor, Interview with Michael Zang of the Jai Yen Yen Street Combat & Self Defense System, Behind the Scenes: ADR, Character Bios and ADV previews.

Collector's Edition Available

The New First of the North Star trilogy is also available as a Collector's Edition, which includes the first DVD of the trilogy and an attractive custom series art box to house the entire series (SRP $34.98).
