Tokyopop Announces the Evolution of Princess Ai

TOKYOPOP Proudly Announces ...

THE EVOLUTION OF PRINCESS AI

The Finale Of The Best-Selling Manga Trilogy
Marks the Beginning of an All-New Ai-Venture

Los Angeles, CA (February 6, 2006)—TokyoPop Inc., the country's number one graphic novel publisher, heralds the arrival of Princess Ai: Evolution, the third and final book rounding out the Gothic fantasy thrillogy, created by an unparalleled royal manga family that includes writer-producer-composer D. J. Milky (Juror 13), renowned Japanese artist Misaho Kujiradou and celebrated international manga-ka Ai Yazawa (Paradise Kiss). The culmination of Ai's journey of self-discovery is at hand, and salvation is on the horizon. But can everyone's favorite diva avoid her enemies and still find a way to bring peace to her troubled homeland?

While Evolution marks the finale of the best-selling Princess Ai manga series, its release signals a new chapter in the epic adventure. With an Ai looking toward the 2008 feature film debut of The Ai-Land Chronicles, D. J. Milky is currently in post-production on a sizzling three-minute presentation reel that showcases the groundbreaking blend of live action and animation he has in store for the film. Featuring the original song "Broken Leash," composed by D. J. Milky, who serves as both writer and director on the project, the reel's green-screen footage showcases the singer Skye, starring as Princess Ai, backed by members of the indie-pop band, Nude.

And the Ai-volution doesn't stop here. Plans are in the works for an all-new line of Ai-Land Chronicles novels, as well as a series of episodic mangapods, (dramatic audio interpretations of the manga complete with music and sound effects), various wallpaper downloads, cool clothing and merchandise, plus much, much more.

According to TOKYOPOP CEO Stu Levy, producer of The Ai-Land Chronicles, "Though this is the final volume of the manga trilogy, it's not the end of the saga. The stories we plan to tell will be presented in many different formats and they will all expand upon the world that you've just begun to discover."

A dizzying array of dazzling Princess Ai merchandise is available now, including Bleeding Edge dolls, journals, T-shirts, stickers, postcards and all sorts of exciting accessories. Certain items can be found exclusively at Hot Topic stores, or fans can visit the TOKYOPOP store at www.TOKYOPOP.com

In Japanese, Ai = Love. In the spirit of love, Princess Ai: Evolution will be available on February 7, in time for Valentine's Day at all major book, comic, video, specialty and music stores nationwide at $9.99 (SRP).
