Pokémon Announces New Season of Battle Road Tournaments

Pokémon Players to Compete in Free Event Earning Premier Ratings; Top Qualifiers Earn Invitation to 2008 World Championships

BELLEVUE, Wash.—September 19, 2007—Pokémon USA, Inc., a worldwide leader in trading card games, today announced the Pokémon® Trading Card Game (TCG) Battle Road Tournaments. Battle Road Tournaments provide players with the opportunity to increase their premier ratings, which can earn them an invitation to the World Championships held in August of 2008 in Orlando, Florida. The Pokémon TCG Battle Road Tournaments will take place September 21 through October 14, 2007. Pokémon's highly anticipated TCG tournaments and leagues provide the opportunity to drive players' critical thinking and strategic skills while endorsing their creativity and independent thought.

Pokémon TCG Battle Road Tournaments are free events, open to all players. Competitors are divided into three divisions: Junior Division (Born 1997 or later), Senior Division (Born in 1993, 1994, 1995, or 1996), and Masters Division (Born in 1992 or earlier). Prizes are awarded to the top two players in each age division. First-place winners will receive eight Pokémon booster packs and a Victory Medal—Silver promo card. Second-place winners will receive four booster packs. The Pokémon TCG World Championships is an invite-only event, and players must participate in a qualifying tournament or hold one of the highest premier ratings in their division to receive an invitation.
