MapleStory iTrading Card Game to Release NPC Heroes in the Fourth Set

MapleStory continues to build successful iTCGTM in conjunction with its
Massive Multiplayer Online Counterpart

August 12, 2008 (Renton, Wash.) – In a continuation of Wizards of the Coast's trading card game legacy, the company has announced a fourth set of the MapleStory iTCG. The new card set, NPC Heroes, is scheduled to hit store shelves this August. Compatible with existing sets, these cards will feature unique playable features designed to engage and delight both new and existing players.

With the NPC Heroes set, players get to have the NPCs fight for them, complete their quests, and reap the rewards. This set features Athena Pierce, Grendal the really Old, Dances with Balrogs, and more NPC “Heroes” to power up MapleStory™ decks. With exclusive characters available only through the iTCG, players will be on the hunt for rare upgrades. These characters can upgrade multiple times as players use them to complete tasks and quests throughout the game.

In partnership with Nexon America, Wizards premiered the MapleStory iTrading Card Game (iTCG) on Nov. 6, 2007 to the applause of existing MapleStory fans. The MapleStory iTCG is a trading card game based on Nexon's popular 2D MMORPG. It represents an opportunity to bring MMOers into the trading card world, and vice-versa, as the cards feature exclusive codes that can be redeemed online for virtual MMO goods.

The MapleStory iTCG Starter Set (MSRP $9.99) and Booster Packs (MSRP $3.99) are available in the US and Canada at hobby game shops and other major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Target, select GameStop stores, Toys ‘R’ Us, Kmart and Meijer Foods.

Wizards of the Coast popularized trading card games with the creation of Magic: The Gathering® in 1993. The company holds an exclusive patent on trading card games (TCGs) and their method of play.
