Manga & Anime Japan

A Journey From The History To Modern Day Inspirations

Japan Creative Centre, Kyoto International Manga Museum, The Japan Foundation and Animax are jointly organizing the exhibition, “Manga & Anime! Japan - A Journey From The History To Modern Day Inspirations - ”, from 16 Oct to 12 Nov 2010 to showcase these important icons of Japanese pop culture. This event aims to deepen understanding of charms of Japan and her pop culture through introducing history and culture of Japanese manga and animation.

Visitors will each receive a manga in Japanese as a gift from the collection of the Kyoto International Manga Museum and can look forward to:

History of Manga: The evolution of manga from post- WWII period to the present day will be shown through the works of established authors and major manga titles.

Anime & Manga Gallery: The extensive range of anime & manga genres such as “adventure”, “girls' collection”, “science fiction” and “fantasy” will be presented.

Anime Illustrations: Professional illustrations created by members of the Organisation of Illustrators Council (OIC) Singapore, in collaboration with Animax, will be showcased. These illustrations are inspired by several of the major anime titles on exhibition.

Visitors may vote for their favourite Anime Illustrations and stand to win fantastic prizes, namely, a JAL ticket to Tokyo, Japan (Grand Prize) and Kinokuniya Book store vouchers (Consolation Prizes). They may cast their votes on Animax's website using a special password. Voting is open throughout the exhibition period.
