Miami, Florida (April 17, 2019) — OtakuFest, a new 2-day anime and fan festival, is coming to the Miami Airport Convention Center on August 31st - September 1st, 2019. Presented by the Creative Director of Animate! Florida and Paradise City Comic Con, the festival will celebrate the best in Geek and Nerd culture including Anime, Animation, Cosplay, Gaming, Manga, Comics, Music, and more.

“After working in comic conventions for over 10 years, I'm excited and honored to be able to bring a new type of festival to Miami,” Winji Mesadieu, founder of OtakuFest, said. “My ultimate goal is to create an event that is both inclusive and entertaining for the South Florida community.” Mesadieu, who grew up on Martial Arts films and classic cartoon programs such as Toonami, Disney Afternoon, and Kids WB, is a self-identified “blerd” (i.e. black nerd). He hopes to encourage a community of diverse hyper-fans (known as otaku) through the creation of this festival.
