M2 Studio President Masao Maruyama to Return to Otakon

Washington, D.C. (June 11, 2019) – Japanese anime producer and M2 studio president Masao Maruyama will be returning as a guest for Otakon 2019, according to Otakorp Inc. Maruyama has also been an honorary Otakon staff member for many years.

Maruyama is a Japanese animation producer, formerly the president of MADHOUSE, Inc, and currently the chairman of the board of directors of MAPPA Co., Ltd, as well as the president of Studio M2.  He started his career in the anime industry at Mushi Production after graduating from college.  He soon became independent and launched MADHOUSE, Inc. He has since successfully launched MAPPA Co., Ltd,  and Studio M2.  He has produced numerous animation titles since the early days of Japanese animation, including "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," "Summer Wars," "Paprika," and "In This Corner of the World."

Otakon 2019 will be held July 26-28, 2019 at the Walter Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
