Schwarz, a die-hard FPS gamer, was in the middle of a Virtual Reality Multiple Battlefield match when one wrong step sent him tumbling off the map. He expected "Game Over" -- instead, he woke up in a world of swords and sorcery. With no way home and no magic to his name, Schwarz is quickly branded a "dud" by the locals... until his modern rifle proves more than a match for spellcraft. But in a land where magic reigns supreme, what happens when the man with the gun runs out of ammo?

So much of our knowledge is tied into the systems we use in ways we never truly consider. I would not be able to create a manuscript in the middle ages anymore than I might expect a scribe of that time to be able to create one on my computer. We may both be writers, but we use tools and skills designed for different systems. The professional FPS gamer, known as Schwarz, finds himself thrown out of his game but also unable to leave it, with his arsenal and skills intact, into a world with magic. In a moment, Schwarz is thrown from being the very top of his profession to being a clueless “dud.” Thankfully, while Schwarz is a bit less inquisitive than I would like in a protagonist, he's not stupid.

This isn't a Ghost Ship title so there is a presumed sexual immaturity in the readership—Schwarz's first encounter with another human is a woman about to be ravaged by goblins. We get to confirm she wears underwear, and has breasts, then she can become a person who assists Schwarz to transition from a top-notch FPS fighter to adventurer with superior weaponry.

Schwarz is still technically inside the game, so there is some interesting mechanics relating to how his FPS currency, “crystals,” translates to the magic stones of his new world. As the volume ends we and Schwarz still don't know how he got here or if he will be able to return to his original life.

Overall, this was a pretty good mashup of FPS mechanics and isekai into a fantasy life with a little prurience for people who need that extra upskirt or two to make something interesting.
