When I reviewed Saint Lily's Magical Girls -Fusion-, I said, oh yeah, I'd totally read something else by Elidora! Well, now I have, and I admit that I may have been mistaken. So this is a really weird doujinshi, even by my standards. I'm cool with anime-headed human body demons, tentacles, and other tropes of “demon” porn, but this one put me into “what is that?!?” territory.

There is precious little story to speak of—Alicia uses her finely honed shinobi skills to be gang-raped by a bunch of demons, then destroy them when they are drained of their precious (eye-roll) bodily fluids. We are given a short backstory, and then Alicia has to face an enemy who has captured her one true weakness—her sister, who apparently is generating demon eggs and shooting them out of herself, from exactly the place you'd expect. I hit that page and just checked right out of the story. I'm not judging if this is your thing; it is simply not mine.

Seduced by her demon sister, Alicia goes all demony herself, so, uh, I guess we should watch out or something.

Of all the 18+ I've read this year for ANN, this was the very least appealing to me on any level. The art was often indecipherable, and when I could figure out what was happening, it didn't spark joy at all.

There is definitely a place in the world for over-stuffed, shiny, water-balloon bodies, clad in (what is obviously, even in black and white) purple pleather body suits that cover absolutely none of the parts of the body that humans need covered to protect themselves from injury and weather. I am confident that there is a place in the world for demon egg spawning and ejecting, as well. I am equally confident that my hard drive/bookshelf is not one of those places.

I will now revise my previous statement—if I have a chance to read another Elidora erotica that has a plot and art that is not distressing, I may. This was not that book.

Eltoria's Demon-Vanquishing Shinobi Alicia and the Womb Tattoo is regrettably one of those works that isn't as good holistically as the parts that make it up would suggest. If you like hardcore kinks in your hentai, there's a lot to appreciate here with corruption, futanari, egg laying, incest, monster fucking, AB/DL, tentacles, and more, all featured to some capacity within this work. However, none of these ideas is given much room to breathe or explored with any kind of depth, making the work feel a bit rushed and shallow.

To start with the positives, Demon-Vanquishing Shinobi Alicia is arguably the best looking of any doujinshi by Eltoria. The poses are nowhere near as stiff in this title as in some of their past works, and there's no longer a distracting stylistic difference between the character artwork and the background artwork. The costuming and character designs are also fairly inspired and play well into the fantastical setting.

That's where the compliments end, though. Demon-Vanquishing Shinobi Alicia has some structural issues that make it fairly challenging to read or recommend. Rather than introduce us to its characters in the opening pages, it starts in media res during an orgy between the titular Alicia and a group of minotaurs. Via a flashback, we learn of her and her sister's sad backstory as well as their beef with the head of this evil organization, but the plot jumps around so quickly that it's hard to keep track of or care about these characters. This work also rushes through the many sex acts it includes, almost as though the author had more ideas to express than they had space on the page. This choice has the downstream effect of pages and panel layouts feeling cluttered and busy to the point of being difficult to decipher casually.

If nothing else, Demon-Vanquishing Shinobi Alicia makes me want to keep an eye on Eltoria and their upcoming work. One of my favorite elements of small market media like doujinshi is that it's easy to track the development of a specific artist or team, and it's clear from Eltoria's bibliography that they're just about to really figure out their style and voice. I can't recommend this work, though, unless the hodgepodge of ideas present in it all happen to align perfectly with a hypothetical reader's kinks. All of the pieces are there, but they just don't click into place in Demon-Vanquishing Shinobi Alicia, and I hope things line up better in Eltoria's next work.

Have you ever read a story where it felt like the writer and artist had a bunch of ideas but a very limited amount of time so instead of just picking one or two things to write about, they decided to just cram everything in at once? Normally those stories are begging to be disasters and it usually isn't a complaint lobbed at porn stories but here we are. Demon Vanquishing is interesting because it feels like every couple of pages, the story makes a hard right turn into something else. One minute I think I am walking into the middle of a standard mind break session, but then it turns out that I'm actually following a battle ninja who's trying to kill monsters. But THEN it turns out it is a mind break story after all, but it's a very specific and almost convoluted mind break story involving sisters, revenge, a ritual, and rewriting emotions. There's a lot to take in and this is probably one of the most exposition heavy porn stories in this entire guide. I wasn't sure if I should be enjoying the scenery or taking notes but the former was also difficult because of how cluttered everything was from a visual standpoint.

Parts of the story almost feel like the writer had a checklist of monster and mine break scenes they really wanted to draw. Some panels do look really good, but others just look off, either because the anatomy doesn't seem right or the camera angle will make certain body parts look a bit warped. It also doesn't help that some of the designs are overly detailed to the point where I can't tell where certain things start and where others end. Even if I was into a lot of conventional monster fucking, there just wasn't really a lot of room for this one to breathe because it felt like it kept building and building some kind of grand climax that never really stopped. That can feel interesting and stimulating on its own, but when you factor in all of the extra exposition and overly cluttered presentation, I find it more exhausting to get through than enjoyable. There are points in this story about the characters getting forced in these situations and having their emotions overwritten. While that is an interesting fantasy, I also felt like that was happening to me while I was reading it and not in a fun way. If you're going to pick this up, take your time and only go one section at a time, otherwise you might end up hitting a wall like I did.
