20th Century Boys (manga)
Akira (manga)
Alive (manga by T Kawashima)
Battle Angel Alita (manga) Very good It's cool. It's big. Sometimes confusing. Kinda cliche ending. Overall it's good. Ending reminds me of the end of the Naussicaa manga
Battle Angel Alita: Last Order (manga)
Battle Royale (manga) it was interesting to see the nature of people but it was physically painful to read and very tragic. the end was pretty good and it almost redeemed itself for the torture that it put the readers through (what kinda sick person actually enjoys seeing people so callously killed)
Berserk (manga) this is quite entertaining. it is a very dark story and very tragic. gutts/gats/gattsu at first was not very likable but eventually became quite tragic. my main problem with the series is that it gets a little preachy with the nature and the fight scenes are way too long and too big of a focus of the series. another problem is that there is no end in sight. How is this series going to end? I can't see how it can unless gutts/gats/gattsu dies or something.
Blade of the Immortal (manga) Very good This is really something. It reads like a novel and the story just gets deeper and deeper but not philosophically, it's just a dense well thought out story. The fight scenes are sometiems hard to understand but when you understand it, everything fits. The fight scenes are more mature and don't associate emotions or will or "way of the ninja" with skill. If one person beats another (usually kills) it's because that person was faster, stronger, or just more skilled, not because their philosophy or will or spirit energy was deeper. Some have complained that the artstyle has changed. It's true. It's a little darker and there are no more murals. I never missed the murals but I did prefer the lighter artstyle but it's really not that big of a deal.
Bleach (manga) Good it's cool. the characters are interesting and the fights are good. there are too many battles that don't cause the story to progress that much. it takes a long time before you see a major growth in the character and i don't mean like he got stronger or got a new ability
Claymore (manga)
Death Note (manga)
Eureka Seven (manga)
Fullmetal Alchemist (manga) Good hope it doesn't end like the anime
Gantz (manga)
Gunslinger Girl (manga) Decent not as good as the anime. The action seems thinner and there seems to be less to it. Still it's the same great overall premise (NOT girls with guns but the relationship between the girl and her partner)
Hellsing (manga)
Hikaru no Go (manga)
Inuyasha (manga) Decent gosh 10 years and they still haven't beaten Naraku?
Kurozuka (manga)
Lone Wolf and Cub (manga, Kazuo Koike)
Mushishi (manga) in my personal opinion, the anime is a whole lot better
Naruto (manga) Good it's alright. the action is really done well. the creator knows which frames need to be shone and from what angle. the fight scenes are easy to understand but videogame-like. the tournaments seem like an excuse to get two characters to fight and show the reader the contrast between the two characters' views on life and "the way of the ninja" oohhhh
Planetes (manga)
Saikano (manga)
Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (manga) reminds me of kingdom hearts. anyway. tsubasa moves very very fast from one place to another and sometimes the whole feather thing seems to be an excuse for the authors to make up whole new crazy adventures. I just wish it had a more focused story without all of the flab that just lasts for as long as the characters are in the that particular world
Vagabond (manga)
Vinland Saga (manga)
