I love anime... I also like something that takes a bit to just get it. Sybolism can be fun... but sometimes they go to far. WHat Anime just blows your mind.
3- X/1999 THe Movie... OKay.. Point A to point -9 made no sense.
2- End of Evangelion... Wha? Need I say more.
1- Revolutionary GIrl Utena... I acctually had to watch a comentary to halfway get it.
Each of these are a retelling of their respective (and exeptional) series... but my god make some sense.

hmm... I had no problems following the X movie (and I saw it several years ago, before I knew about the manga, much less the TV series) The only problem I had with it is that it was too quickly paced and I knew there had to be a bigger backstory somewhere behind it all.
Lain was more of a mind screw for me... only because you were compelled to try and figure out what Lain was supposed to be at the end, and even then, there was no clear cut definition of how she came to be, and what, in the end, she was supposed to represent.

Serial Experiments Lain for me. More meanings then you can shake a stick at! But still A very good anime.

I would have to say "Boogiepop Phantom". Even after reading the novels and watching the movie, it still confuzzles me. And, yeah, Lain confused me a lot too but BP threw me really off. That's why I like it.

I didn't have any trouble with End of Evangelion or the Utena movie, mostley because they were pretty straightforward with their visual metaphors and so forth. The one that threw me for a loop was Cat Soup, which I had to watch several times in order to start making real sense of it.

Tehxnolyze gets my vote; I *know* it makes sense...in the same way that Mulholland Drive (eventually) makes sense, but for sheer WTF quotient, the first episode of that is way out there.

With Texhnolyze, you just gotta love a show that has episodes named Encephalopathy.

Knowing that, I am obligated to see it now. The chronically magniloquent dilletante can scarcely resist the call of sophisticated verbage. Or nigh incomprehensibility.

I agree with Vigilante. Angel's Egg is pretty darn confusing. Everything else I have seen from Eva to Utena to Lain you can at least attempt to interpret, but Angel's Egg even defies symbolic and metaphoric interpretation. Its so meaningless that the meaninglessness has meaning...

yeah, FLCL was very confusing, but in a good way . Also I'd have to say Big O, there is some stuff I'm not understanding. Like, Tomatoes for example.

FLCL was also confusing to me. I have no idea what was going on until the end when everything was stiched together with an electric guitar. I was still confuse though, I think I have to watch it again. ^^

Yeah FlCL has my vote i've seen it twice and still don't understand what the hell was up witrh this. At the end when the single guitar string is plucked but no one is around.
Can anybody tell me what was up with that. To tell the truth the only thing more cofusing is the Arnold movie Total recall must of seen the damn movie 20 times and I still don't get it.
