Does anyone even bother to watch Naruto Shippuden anylonger?
It seems like the Naruto Shippuden series has just turned into a mass filler series. I don't remember the last time I saw a decent episode.

Does anyone even know when they are gonna show some real
episodes again, or are they gonna keep sending us filler episodes for a LONG time because the series is near the end?

I think we'll see filler going on for a bit. The anime is only 2 arcs behind the manga, I believe (Kage Summit and Ninja War (ongoing)). I'm not sure how much ground they can cover in a season if they don't pepper it with filler, but maybe that's why they're doing filler now: so that they can give the next arc without any and still wont get dangerously close to where the manga is at.

I pretty much just check CR to see if the filler is done and then move on to something else. OTOH, the Pain arc was really great, so hopefully the next non-filler arc will be really good as well. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

Episode 194.

Which is also the very last episode that has aired in Japan.

Either way, I prefer chunks of filler and well paced canon material. This chunk of filler has had some really well-animated episodes, so it hasn't been a total waste. Canon episodes start in a few weeks.

I'm not caught up on the current filler, but I agree that from what I've seen so far, this recent crop of filler has been pretty good overall. And I STRONGLY echo your opinion about prefering chunks of filler interspaced with well-paced canon material. Sometimes filler episodes/arcs can still be enjoyable, and if not, I just skip them, no harm done and little time wasted.

The alternative is... well, the sad tragedy that the latest One Piece anime arc has turned into is one example. How I wish One Piece had done an extra 20 or so episodes of filler at some point before that arc so they could manage better pacing.

No. The real alternative is to take a break. Or do what Gintama does, although it's too late to do that at this point.

I also totally stopped watching it as well. I'll pick it back up when they actually have a story though, but I tried watched a few of the first couple filler episodes after the end of the last arc and they were seriously bottom-of-the-barrel.

You could just skip them like I do. No one forces you to watch them.

Filler is a term some anime fans have come to misuse use to describe content not found in the manga, though it's inaccurate as filler is really anything that offers no baring on the story, plot, or characters. While some of the Naruto anime-only episodes are like that, you have ones like the Twelve Guardians arc which was made specifically for the anime, but fleshed out characters like Asuma and Naruto, so it's not filler.

Anyway, it's in another anime-exclusive arc right now, with mixed results. I really enjoyed the Shikamaru/Tenten team up episode, as well as the Hinata one. I don't mind these episode much since they're new adventures not found in the manga, though they can get kinda silly at times (magic mushroom one comes to mind)

I;m not watching this batch of filler, but at least we may never have fillers again after this with the manga so close to ending and all.

tbh i stopped watching as the Invasion Of Pain Arc ended, whilst the manga story is still solid enough they keep going back to filler far to often now (about every 22 weeks) , i'd prefer them to just stop for a year or 18 months and then go back to it, hopefully then the quality would pick up again too, it really began to drop off before i stopped watching

I haven't seen Naruto in awhile, and I have yet to see Naruto Shippuudens. Why? I hear so many bad things about Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden, and with the poor quality and the length, I wonder if it's worth watching. Am I missing anything? It sounds like if I don't get into Naruto, I'm not the only one, it sounds like a lot has been turned off.

Yes it's awesome, and, uh, given how well it still sells and how the show rates, no, not very many people seem to share your views.

well if you read it i wouldn't worry about watching it, kinda like Bleach in the sense that the quality dropped off recently and with all the filler it's easier to just read it and stay totally up to date on the series than watch 20 episodes of story then 20 episodes of filler and be behind on whats actually going on, cause the story to Naruto and Bleach in manga terms is getting really good right about now, but the animes are just starting and just finishing filler respectively

Pfft, bullshit. Rolling Eyes

You're free to like the show, and there are definitely plenty of other people who love the show to death as well. But if you think for a second that there isn't a shitload of those who hate the show with a burning passion as well, then you're just lying to yourself. Because there most definitely is. -__-

But, ftr, Youkai, I'd vote against trying to start it now. You're not missing anything special.
