I believe that there should a solid dubbed anime channel in the USA! A channel that shows a wide variety of different anime! I'm not a business man, but I think it would be a very good investment! lol

Well, there are the Anime Channel and Funimation Channel on-demand. Otherwise, there's legal streaming.
If there wasn't a more heavily-broadcasted, all dubbed anime channel during the anime boom of the early 2000s, then there most likely won't be any in the foreseeable future. Maybe it'd be a good investment for the anime consumer-- just maybe-- but it'd most likely be a huge loss on the part of the licensor to go beyond on-demand. Hm...
But I'd like a channel that shows all types of anime made by different companies, but I guess that would be shooting a bit too far for the stars. |

unfortunately japanese licencing demands are too high, especially for old series, and they have no interest in expanding the us market.
In the long run a basic cable us anime channel would help expand the us anime market and be a hug boom for the japanese companies, but they have no initiative. A us company can not do it, they would take too much of a hit. It would have to be a joint effort by the japanese companies to make it successful, and pigs will prob fly before that happens. |

Actually there is a 24/7 anime channel in the US and it is called the FUNimation Channel. It has broadcasting for over 5 years now. If you would like your television service provider to add it, just click here for more information. |

...Step 5: Your service provider will say they'll look into it but promptly ignore your request or tell you there isn't enough demand for it. Step 6: FAIL |

Perhaps if only a few people follow those steps. With enough calls, I guarantee that this will work. Also, AT&T offers it, so there's one competitor you could bring up as an alternative to your current provider. If they're smart, they'll start offering the channel; if they don't, switch.

There was. It was called The Anime Network, and it ran anime 24/7. Most, if not all, was dubbed. Where is it, you ask? Well, it's in the history books as a failure, because it couldn't generate revenue to satisfy those who were businessmen. I could argue the cable industry itself was the cause of the failure, but it won't matter. Once the numbers are in print, they're going to be used in any other business endeavor for all eternity. It's just the way it works. We didn't even get TAN on our cable tiers until the tail end of 2006, but by this time, it had turned into an on-demand channel. Despite what people think, anime isn't some commodity in demand. When FUNimation literally gives a free license to air its series, and they're turned down, that says more than one needs to know: "We don't want your stinkin' cartoons." While Cartoon Network, Spike TV, and Sci-Fi (no, I will not accept that new style) do play anime, they're very selective titles. Each station has to consider its demographic carefully, and try to air a series which will please the largest number of people in the demographic. Consider this when anime fans themselves are bitching amongst each other about the use of specific elements in anime now, such as "lolicon" (underage girls, generally in elementary school), "moe" (overly used cutesy-wutesy and this term itself is highly debated, ftr), "fanservice" (unnecessary sexual innuendo, especially when it involves "lolicon"), and anything else that's not on the level of Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, or Ghost in the Shell. |

We have Charter Communications and that's about it and they also run our phones and internet. If I wanted to switch something it would have to be back to Dish or DirectTV, but then we'd lose TV and Internet whenever the weather was bad which is often. Besides if I wanted to see stuff from Funimation I'd just go to their website and watch all the free streaming video I want. At least they gave us The Anime Network but it's VOD. |

Wow. I didn't have to do any of the hard lifting to explain FUNimation Channel. If you have Charter, go here: http://havefunimationchannel.com/ to request FUNimation Channel On Demand and enter to win a trip to San Diego Comic-Con.
We'll be adding some subtitled versions of shows later on this year, but nothing right now. Going to add some new programming blocks and fun stuff. Lance Heiskell Marketing Director Guy @FUNimation Twitter anyone? @lheiskell |

A while back I sent a note (via snail mail. don't you know) to Dish Network about Funimation's channel. It disappeared without making so much as a ripple. If Dish Network has any interest in exploring such a channel, then they are concealing such an interest quite well.

Yeah I have Charter as well and I also can't get the Funimation channel because they don't offer it because of not enough demand. We do have The Anime Network though the only downfall though is that it's only available On Demand and it's like $7 or $8 a month I think. (Can't really remember since I've been subbed to it for like 2 years) Most of the anime they show is dubbed, (there is a fair amount of subs though too) and I must say they usually have a pretty good selection, I almost always watch at least 1 episode a day and I've had the service for over 2 years now. Between this and Netflix I've gotten to watch quite a bit of anime that I couldn't find elsewhere. (i.e. online streaming sites)

I actually just got an email from Funimation saying Charter has it now. Kinda creepy since I was just talking about it here earlier. |
