I'm curious to know other people's opinions! With serialized comics do you prefer the anthology format such as manga is often serialized in or
do you prefer the american style of serialization in which with each issue you are buying it contains one series? I apologize if this is making little sense but I can find no other way to word it. 
Personally, I prefer the anthology format as you receiving much more content for your money and you find yourself reading and enjoying things you never would have had it been on its own. |

The anthology format has its advantages. You frequently get to see series you would not have tried otherwise. While there were also series I wasn't interested in, I always felt I got my money's worth. That said, it could be a pain to try to follow a series through several issues since the location frequently changed.
However, it is sort of a pointless discussion. No matter which format you prefer, if you want to follow a specific series you have to take the format the publisher uses. I don't see the point in deciding to follow or not follow a series based on the format it comes in. In any case, all the anthology magazines I wanted to read are gone now and all the few U.S. based series I read continue to be in single series floppies. The only choice is to buy the floppies or wait for the graphic novel (or do both). The publishers don't care which format you prefer. |

I usually read my manga online, and my American comics in graphic novels, but i definitely prefer the anthology format.

I prefer the anthology format, but here in the US you really don't have that option, unless you read something like shonen jump, or heavy metal. I usually prefer for a volume to come out, but that can be a year with American comics, so with series I REALLY can't wait (Vertigo's The Unwritten for example) I'm at the comic book shop every 2nd Wednesday of the the month to pick up the monthly floppy.
I'd love to see those companies start doing anthologies, but it seems in the US a good portion of their sales are based on the monthly floppies, and they aren't considered an advertising write off like with Japan's anthologies. |

For what little manga I read I prefer the bound volume format. One series between a dedicated, numbered, labeled, and illustrated cover.

I'm not sure if this interests you, but Vertigo just released a one-shot 80 page anthology titled Strange Adventures, and by "just" I mean today. I'm not sure if this is just a "one time thing" or if they're "testing the waters" but it's certainly a start! There's also plenty of anthologies in the UK (Clint, 2000 AD, etc) if you know where to look, you can purchase them in North America. |

I like manga anthologies, but single issue comics are just as nice too for a quick, cheap fix. SJump is a better value, but 3-4 bucks isn't too bad for a new issue of something, be it DC/Marvel or another pub.
Though it really depends on the title- outside of Marvel/DC, if it's a big name creator, serialized issues are great, though for some titles/creators, OGN's work better Sad that Flight's ending [thoguh the kids edition will continue], hope something similar starts up soon |
