Well as my name and first post suggests I`m a Mazinger Z/Mazinkaiser fan. Almost a year ago when Transformers Season 3 Part 2/Season 4 came out, I decided to pick up Mazinkaiser 1 and 2. Loved em! I see a lot of Region Free Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger and Mazinkaiser DVD`s on ebay. I`d really rather wait for a US release. So please tell me what`s happening with these series. Are they coming soon, later or what. Thanks!

I don't think there are any US DVD releases of Mazinger Z. The closest thing you will find are old VHS tapes of it but they changed Mazinger Z's name to Tranzor Z. I don't even think they released the entire series. My friend loves Go Nagai (except for Devil Lady and Demon Lord Dante) and that's what he told me. So yeah your best bet is looking for VHS tapes of Tranzor Z. I highly doubt they'll ever release the original Mazinger Z here in the US. Oh and you also might be interested in knowing that they're making a new Getter Robo series. Its a rehash but the animation is just like Getter Robo Armageddon.

If the signs ar true, the license for Mazinger Z has a good chance of going to ADV. But nothing is set in stone, yet.

So no, no Region 1 release. The Region free releases on Ebay are bootlegs, and are of fairly poor quality too. Steer clear.

Dare da? Dare da? Dare da?
Sora no kanata ni odoru kage
Shiroi tsubasa no Gatchaman!

Inochi wo kakete tobidaseba!
Kagaku ninpo hi no tori da!
Tobe! Tobe tobe Gatchaman!
Yuke! Yuke yuke Gatchaman!

Chikyuu wa hitotsu! Chikyuu wa hitotsu!

Oh, Gatchaman, Gatchaman!

...Yes indeed. Considering that Gatchaman, an anime with TWO different hackjobs in existence (the 1990's Eagle Riders was actually Gatchaman II) has been picked up by ADV and is being redubbed as we speak, Mazinger Z could definitely be in the cards.

You know what that means. Buy Saint Seiya now and Gatchaman when it comes out. Money talks.
