I'm 13 and I was wondering. Are there any suggestions for magazines/mangas I should buy?
PS: I'm a guy. |

I don't know what you like, but most of the manga industry in Japan is aimed at guys your age. Shonen (one of the words for "boy" in Japanese) manga, although it is read guys and girls of any age, are primarily aimed at your age group and gender.
And, since most of the manga brought over from Japan so far has been shonen, there is a huge amount of manga to choose from. So the first thing to do is to tell us what you like. If you haven't read much manga or seen much anime, then list movies, books, and TV shows that you particularly like. It will give people a jumping off point on their recommendations. |

yeah too many genres to choose from. It would be easier to narrow it down with some favorite from movies and whatnot.
As for magazine, I occationally read newtype. There are some nifty articles in there thats fun to read. The actual news and anime coverage is not top-notch though. |

I would also recommend Newtype USA, because it's the best anime mag in my opinion. I think the news coverage is good. (They have interesting facts in the Newtype Express.) However, seeing as it comes with a free DVD (I'm not sure if that's just with the ordered versions) and many other free things, it kinda costs more than other magazines. Shonen Jump is definetly one to check out, especially for your age group. Anything manga that comes from that mag is probably something you'll like. |

When I was 13, I would probably be really into Naruto. Plus it's not that expensive compare to most manga and it's a typical manga that most young boys would like. It's easy to read and not too complicated to understand the underlying meaning. Also it's a good book that shows determination within the character to become stronger, so it's influential in a way to the kids...
If you don't like ninjas, than just check out the other shonen jump titles like One Piece, Bleach, or YuYu Hakusho, Kenshin. And if you're not into action and more into comedy/fanservice, I guess Love Hina is one of those manga that all young boys love. But it would help if you did tell us what you're into. Action? Sports? Romance? Samurai? |

Aromatic, I do read Newtype USA. I love those little sections in the magazine. But if you want actual most recent anime coverage, this mag gets rather repetitive imo.

Ah, I new there was a similar topic, unfortunately, related to anime.
However, I suggest you to take a look at it. Most series suggested there have its own manga version. Darkhunter's options are very good too. |
