From http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050419f.php:

When asked whether the next "Fast and the Furious" will be with neither Vin Diesel or Paul Walker, he responded "Yes, it is....we really loved making those two movies and we were looking for a fresh take on how to go into that world again, we came to this idea of going to Japan. It's where a lot of this stuff started, so it's about the new level of racing there" says Moritz...

If it's any more sadness, the recent Tokyo Auto Salon was more awash in "Fast and Furious" type graphics and detailing than ever.

Laughing Never heared of that before. People enjoyed racing long before that. First running with your legs. Then with horses and donkeys. Then in the early 20's with automobiles in America. Now it's done either on street, track or at comfort of your home with some GT4 Twisted Evil . But street racing started in Japan? I would need some evidence to belive that one. Laughing

I suspect (hope?) that by "It's where a lot of this stuff started," he means the current trends in street racing. Stuff like rice, you know. Street racing itself has been around since there were cars capable of going fast.

Reminds me of the misconception that the Japanese invented drifting. While I believe it was a japanese racer that coined the term, the technique itself has been around for a long, long time.
