Hey all,

I'm late to the discussion here, but damn, I'm so hooked on this show. Back when the first previews came out, the big, ugly, naked giants turned me off. I swore I wouldn't like the show. Then, the buzz caught up with me. I checked out ep 1 on Crunchyroll and have been with it ever since. I agree it's violent, but so is A Game of Thrones (another of my favorites). Is it gratuitous? Probably, but it also emphasizes the horror. I like what ANN says in its review--that the art and animation quality vary and that it doesn't seem to matter. I agree. This is a case in which the story carries the show to the point where I don't notice the technical glitches, or if I do, they don't bother me. I leave each episode thinking, NO!!!! I need more. NOW!

Welcome to the club.
I hope you enjoyed the current episodes that have already been aired.

Oh right...I read it as why weren't they killing awesome titans instead of these lame ones and it was only cus they weren't anywhere near the badass titans so that's why Smile

The sound track didn't appeal to me that much. Not a fan of male singers, not to be steroeotype. Overall the anime was not bad, however Eren is just too cliche for me. Like the whole revenge thing, it sounds all too familiar. They could at least give his character a little more original personality. The plot is very exciting. Quite the ride.

He is not doing this for revenge. He wanted to destroy the titans way before his spoiler[mom was killed.]

Episode 10

This week's ep was as great as ever. Nice to see the massive tension from last week's situation leaking into this week, and how Eren's stunt while saving them, dug them into a even deeper whole. It was nice to see Armin be the focus of the ep though since he wasn't getting much time in the spotlight up till this point and it was pretty epic spoiler[seeing him trying to talk down that cowardly captain. Of course it's not surprising the guy was so scared that he wasn't thinking straight and tried to kill them even after seeing how little since it made so it was good to have Pixis finally show up and stop him.]

Should be more fun times up ahead next week. Can't wait!

Hooray for Armin!

Anyone else notice when Eren was explaining the second option how he said a line and his mouth wasn't moving at all? Oops. Anime hyper I thought that was kind of funny. ^^;

The music was epic as usual, I can't wait for the ost to be released on the 28th. It was about time Armin realized spoiler[he was not a useless person that was constantly saved by Eren and Mikasa. His time has finally come and his argument was brilliant.]

I'll second the Hooray!!for Armin as well. Up to this point he didn't really have a defining moment like Mikasa and Eren have each already had.

And an even bigger Hooray goes to the bald headed Pixis (spelling?). spoiler[His calming presence amidst the madness of people living in fear of getting chomped to death was most welcome and timed just right].

Now I gotta wonder about the basement until next week. Geezus.

Dot Pixis. What a name.

Since I liked Armin from the start, I was happy to see him finally getting his moment. Until now, several people were talking about how he's so bright, but we didn't really see him do much at all, so this was nice.

I don't expect us to see what's in the spoiler[basement] in the next episode, there's the spoiler[hole in the wall needing to be closed] and a lot of titans to overcome before that.

Even in a calmer episode like this one, the series manages to keep me in a somewhat breathless state, like being under constant pressure from the horrors of this world. I like that a lot.

Eren's little show left everyone speechless and scared.
Those three sure make a good team.
It's amazing how fear can make people irrational and stupid.
spoiler[That captain needed a good punch in the face to get his shit together.]
Armin was pretty fired up and impressive this time.
I was relieved when spoiler[the commander stopped the captain.]

Watched episodes 8, 9 and 10 just now (threw in episode 7 as well just because it was amazing) and holy crap Shocked My mind can barely take in all the awesomeness. spoiler[The showdown at HQ, Eren emerging from the Titan, the Recon Squad, the flashback to Eren's dad and the realisation that he is responsible for his Titan powers (kinda makes me wonder if he will show up again at one point or another, could be interesting), Armin realising that he's not as useless as he thinks he is...]

And even though Dot Pixis hasn't been featured much, he's already a bit of a favourite of mine. spoiler[His comment about not minding being devoured by a hot female Titan had me in stitches.] Same thing goes for Levi. Can't wait to see more of both of them.

As much as I like the show, I honestly thought episodes 9 and 10 were boring and stupid. Basically, nothing at all happened, and we saw a bunch of people freak out. Armin's "argument" was what everyone should have figured out long ago, since they already used a Titan to their tactical advantage once before.
Also, I wonder how bad their communications are, considering they sat around for forever and the spoiler[commander still managed to arrive just in the nick of time. If I was commander-in-chief and heard about a friendly titan, I'd get there as soon as I can, and not take my sweet time.]
But yeah, hopefully after two episodes of boringness it will get better again. I haven't seen a show I hate as much as I like since Code Geass R2.

@ Labbes - I dug eppie 9 a lot, but I'm with you on eppie 10. I'm getting real tired of the, "oooo, I'm so scared and on the brink of collapse" moments coming from seemingly every single soldier except for Eren and Mikasa. And the whole moment between cannon shots was ridiculously drawn out. "You have 15 seconds to decide, but let's talk for longer than that in real time and throw in some more of your interior monologue about how unworthy you are, Armin!" Rolling Eyes Plus, I didn't feel his speech was all that clever if the idea was to demonstrate what a master strategist he is.

Anyway, I'm hoping next eppie will be a return to form. I'm dying to see what's in that basement, but I have a feeling we won't find out until after the episode 14 recap.

Episode 10

The time in this episode was so slow motion you would think you were watching Naruto or Bleach, although there were fewer flashbacks. But I liked Armin getting some focus it feels like deserved it.

I like that Dot Pixie guy, great that he can keep his calm when talking.
