I started watching Peach Girl, and I think that it's a pretty decent series. The animation's not too special. but what I like about it is how easily relationships can be affected by certain things (well, mainly Sae), making it seem realistic.

& damn, is Sae a B!***! I'll admit, she's a great foil character, but she seems a little too cruel, which kind of made the series less enjoyable for me at this point.

I also have a couple of questions:

1. Does Sae keep that personality for the whole series? Normally I'd find out for myself through watching the series, but my curiosity is killing me.
2. Was the anime a failthful adaptation of the manga? Was it cut short, like Samurai Deeper Kyo, Fruits Basket, etc.?
3. Is there going to be anymore additional characters to the main cast?

Also, anybody have any thoughts about the series?

Ah, Peach Girl. Bane of my existence for a very long period of time...I hated that show for a very long time, but I'll be damned if it didn't get good after awhile.

Anyway, onto your questions:

1. spoiler[Sae goes through several transformations throughout the show. She'll be the hag, then be deflated, then be the hag, then grow up, then be a hag, then be mature... Her personality changes often, but frequent after a spurt of growth she reverts. While I personally find her obnoxious, it was nice to see the changes and her inability to be perfect, even when she learns she's wrong.]

2. I haven't read the manga, so I really don't know.

3. I'm not sure how far you are, but the main cast basically consists of spoiler[Momo, Touji, Sae, Kairi, the school nurse, and Kairi's brother] if I'm remembering correctly.

As for thoughts on the series, I absolutely hated it for the first 12 episodes or so. I had decided it was going to be the first show that I hated that I would finished. It was something I'd always wanted to try, because I find watching an entire series gives me more credibility when discussing pros and cons, etc, particularly with someone who did like it. However, after about 10 or 12 episodes, I began to really like the show. It was still an overdramatic teen soap opera, but the focus changed, and it began to have more of my favorite character. By the end, I was truly drawn in, wondering just what decision Momo would make, etc.

Overall, it's not a particularly good series in my opinion (it's just too over the top), but it is rather addictive and after I got through the parts I hated, I had a hard time turning it off.

Oh, and by the way, if you end up liking Peach Girl, you might want to consider Hana Yori Dango (Boys over Flowers). PG seemed to be influenced by HYD quite a bit.

i loved the series myself (its one of my favorites) i mean how many series out their can actually make you HATE a character and wish they would just die? and then make you change your mind about them? any series that can play with you and make you feel what they want you too is in my book a great series.. not to mention it has a darn good story and good animation, (maybe not what everyone likes, but I've seen ALLOT worse) and once you start watching its REALLY hard to stop. i mean i had more episodes next to me ready to watch so sometimes i couldnt sleep.. and had to watch another episode just to find out what would happen. of course that probally wouldnt have happend if i didn't have all of the episodes ready to watch..

ps check out paradise kiss its an awsome series too, I've only seen the english sub, but its got a great voice cast and is definetly worth a look if you can find it. anime#5081

sae = super b**ch. I read the first 2 manga volumes but it felt too formula-driven and by-the-numbers for my tastes.

Really... that's interesting. I wonder how long the first one will take, seeing as she screwed Momo & Toji again in episode 4, spoiler[actually causing them to break up.] It does seem a little over the top, but it had the right kind of story I was looking for. I Just didn't expect such a b!***y girl so early into the series.

While I haven't read/watched the Boys Over Flowers manga/anime, I have seen the Taiwanese live-action series, so I get the basic storyline of that. I do plan on borrowing the manga from a friend of mine though to see if there's any differences between the manga & the L-A series.

You have a point there. Although I have seen a few series that made me feel that way, but not too many. I only dl & watch 1 ep per day, so I won't have your problem. Razz

As for ParaKiss, I've already seen the anime & read the first Volume of the manga. Simply put, a great series. As a guy, I have to say that it's currently my fave shojo series Very Happy

Agreed. Cool & those moments when she's in her fox ears making those obnoxious faces really piss me off.

& thoughts about Episode 4 (which I just watched):

spoiler[- The b!*<h is back. Sae screws up their relationship again just when things were looking good, but...
- ...this was due to Kairi screwing up & actually telling Sae that he kissed Momo. Stupid, stupid Kairi.]

Oh, she's like that completely for the first spoiler[10 episodes at least, it's when they pushed her aside for other plot that I started liking the show a bit more]

I haven't seen all of the Taiwanese live-action yet, but of what I've seen, it follows the anime very closely. And honestly, I think I like it better, as I didn't like a lot of the seiyuu in the anime. Their lack of experience was pretty obvious. However, a lot of people (at least in reviews I've read) have had the completely opposite reaction to the voice acting, so that's probably just me. I'm picky.

I see. *nods* Can't wait until then! Razz

Ragarding the L-V, interesting. What I found rather interesting was that they actually ended up forming a real pop band & naming themselves F4 for a short while.

& does the nurse in Peach Girl play a bigger role later on. She seems rather minor so far. =\
