Has anyone seen this
Descendants of Darkness...
[URL removed]
I'm interested to here everyone's thoughts and opinions. I personally get really excited about it. Something about the art style and the music together is just pretty cool. What does everyone else thing?

It looks pretty good, like a serious anime with jokes thrown in. I'm not exactly on-the-edge of my seat ready to go get it, but I figure it'd be worth it to check it out. Also, I can already tell that the dubbed version is probably not too great.

Yes, each disc is a different arc.
Also all the main characters are bishies. Although in my eyes only one of them is openly gay(The bad guy). My main problem is with the ending, which you haven't seen yet. It almost ended good. Also the dub is a little better than that clip makes it out to be, it has much better "flow" than the clip. But I wouldn't call it great either.
On a good note, you do end up feeling for the leads, and there friendship.

I adore Yami no Matsuei... Oops, I mean Descendants of Darknesss, of course.
Only two things irk me: one, a lot of people seem to be bothered by some of the similarities to the Tokyo Babylon and X/1999 stories, especially in the first arc. It doesn't bother me too much, but...eh, whatever.
The other part is actually more of a manga problem. The anime, to me, comes off as being very shounen ai/yaoi, but if the manga is to be believed, most of the characters are fairly homophobic. It's....weird.
There's some pretty heavy drama, some violence and some definite sexual elements. And, as mentioned, the ending...is not what you'd be expecting. Maybe this is becasue the manga has further story arcs, but the ending feels...unresolved. Empty.
On the other hand, all the characters are really good-looking (Tatsumi... *sigh*) and fairly tortured, if you like that sort of thing. The villain, aside from having one of the most bizarre motives ever, is simultaneously seductive and repellant, rather like Hannibal Lector.
And I really need to stop rambling.

I get to the part with the woman screaming before the video stops. Guessing this is just a trailer or music video?
Anyway...
I like this series, but I prefer the manga. Maybe just because I read it first and some of my favorite characters get shafted in the anime. Poor Terazuma's just there to fill space. And I'm still disappointed that Watari didn't get to blow up in Tatsumi's face in Kyoto.
But I was impressed with the visuals. The music I'm iffy on. The "battle music" sounded like an RPG reject, IMO.
The dub... I didn't like. I warmed up to Tsuzuki's and liked Tatsumi's from the start, but Hisoka's and Muraki's just don't fit. (Anyone else giggle at the nurses' comments on Muraki's voice?)
The one thing that killed the dub totally in my eyes was one added line in the last episode, which completely ruined the entire feel and point of the scene. ...if you've seen it, you probably know what I'm talking about.

It seems like an interesting enugh title, my thing with it is that it looks like a yaoi title. Can anyone tell me otherwise?

There's some mild innuendo, and I think Muraki kisses Tsuzuki at one point, but that's as explicate as it gets. The supernatural detective element is the story's main focus, with man-on-man action a distant second.

Weeell.... There is the flashback in which Muraki rapes and curses Hisoka, but that doesn't really count, I suppose. However, Muraki does continually sexually harasses Tsuzuki. But overall, it's a supernatural adventure/drama with occasional winks to the fangirls.

Your own opinions aren't very good to begin with. Can't believe I let this thread live past the second I saw it. I must've been sleepy or something -_-...
