Does anyone know what approach Viz will take with the Bleach box sets. Since Bleach is on Adult Swim and has single uncut releases would they do a season box set like Inuyasha. Or are they going to do what they do with Naruto and have 13 episode box sets. I could see them going either way on this since both have their ups and downs.

Season box sets:
good: You get 5 discs and for a long series it takes less space.
bad: usually cost between $80-$100

13 episode box sets:
good: cheaper then season box sets so more people can buy them.
bad: for long series it can add up to a lot of box sets.

Once Bleach has aired over 52 Dubbed Episodes in Canada and the US I think Viz will release Boxsets like InuYasha. But why? They can get you're money twice by buying the singles(like me, just because I want the first 20 or so episodes so that when we're into episode 200 I remember what the plot started with), and then agian by boxsets. Had Viz given an edited Bleach I'm sure we would've had some annoucement of Uncut Boxsets for release in October or something. Now I don't think it'll happen because Viz, like every company, loves money, and if that means making their customer buy something twice, so be it.

Viz is getting my money twice with Inu Yasha and I'll be damned if I'm going to let them do that to me with Bleach. The only problem is that Viz are cheap bastards and probably won't list characters with their pictures. At least that's what they do with the Inu Yasha individual DVDs and they don't do that with the IY box sets.

I like having the the picture to match the face, especially when an anime has 100+ episodes and lots of characters coming and going.

I don't think that we will see a Bleach box set until late this year but I would say realistically sometime next year. We'll just have to keep an eye on places like TRSI and, of course, the ANN home page.

I expect they'll do something similar to Inu Yasha rather than Naruto. In Naruto's case, that was the only uncut version; the single DVD releases were the edited dub only.

I'm curious how they'll divide up the 'seasons' though as episode 16 starts a nearly 50 episode story arc, so the first box set will have to either be relatively short or they'll be stopping in the middle of a story arc. I suspect the first set wil cover up to about episode 24 or 25 when spoiler[Ichigo & Co. enter Sereitei/The Court of Pure Souls/Whatever Viz Calls It] It's a kind of a cliff hanger, but it seems like the best stopping point to me. There is a good stopping point at around episode 49 or 50 as well, so that would seem like a good way to divide things up to me.

The Japanese DVD's are titled by arcs, so I'd imagine that they would follow that.

Well I think they will, considering that there are a lot of fans, and those fans will want something like that not only to save shelf space, but have something more of a collector's item. I know they care about making money, as every company does and should, but I don't think they are rich tycoons that will try to drain every penny they can out of us. They have to think about the fans as well, and Viz seems to do that pretty well.

No, spoiler[Viz does call it Sereitei,] so you can stop your ranting right there. But that's off topic, so whatever.

Unlike Naruto, I think that Bleach is going to be released as a giant season boxset rather then 13 uncut episodes like Naruto did. I mean it's not like there aren't uncut dvds readily available. But if you want to get all of one particular season your probably going to have to wait for it.

According to the encyclopedia the first Inu Yusha dvd came out on 2002-11-05, and the boxset which had five dvds came out on September 7, 2004, so take what you want from that.

Very Happy I think they are going to do Bleach like Naruto. If you look at it like I see it, they are both being done by Viz. I know that sucks an all but Viz is cheap as hell and you know they want all of our money. I think they will release 13 epds boxsets. That will be more to sell and they know that people are going to buy. It really sucks. Very Happy

I agree. Since they've already started the singles, I doubt we'll be seeing any 13 episode box sets. I really wish they had just done the 'uncut box sets' though. It would mean us getting episodes quicker and cheaper. A lot of people have decided to put off buying Bleach and wait for a box set. I was going to be one of those people but the singles looked really nice so I ended up giving in Confused At least we'll be able to enjoy Naruto and Prince of Tennis 13 episodes at a time.

It wasn't a rant, I just didn't know what Viz called it since they somtimes use Japanese terms and their translation isn't necessarily going to match the fansubs. That's all there was to it.

I assume the Bleach releases will come in similar fashion to the InuYasha releases. I'm only buying the InuYasha box sets, never bought a single dvd (except for the movies), but with Bleach, I've bought the first two, & will keep buying them until the box sets show up. I'll switch to the boxes once they're available.

Well, in Taiwan (and I bet in Japan too) they put 4 episodes per DVD. Since the Inuyasha and Naruto DVDs were grouped the same was as here, I think Bleach would probably be the same as Asia.
