I picked up the Hellsing OVA Vol. 1 the other day and I was wondering what other people thought.
Personally, I like it. Alucard is darker, its gorier, the animation is more along the lines of the manga's animation (much crisper and defined lines and the colors are darker), and the biggest thing is that the stories match up for the most part. I can't wait to see Walter fight the ghouls and Valentine Bros. |

I love Hellsing Ultimate. I very much enjoyed the original TV series, but I soon found that the manga was much much better in terms of well, pretty much everything. I'm so glad that these nice folks are going back and revisiting Hellsing, but this time they are going to stay true to the manga, which is great. I also like that they are covering an entire volume in 1 episode. I can't wait to see episode 2, which comes out in English next month. The only problem I have with the OVA is how slowly it is being released. It will be quite some time before the series is finished, especially since Kouta Hirano isn't going to be completing the manga for another couple of years or so. Still, It will be worth the all the waiting. I can't wait for episode 7, which is still a long way off. The seventh volume of the manga was just wicked awesome, the best volume yet. |

YES
Better art style more gore almost exactly like the manga to the point where they take exact poses and stuff from it I LOVE the OVA series. If they do the whole manga and Hellsing "The Dawn" (there have been various hints as to them doing "The Dawn" within the ova. Like "Girly"card at the end of Vol. I's credits, and scenes from the dawn in the preview for Vol. III) I will be a very happy person. |

I think that the first volume is certainly a step in the right direction for the show but the later volume (2,3) really kick things into gear with better animation and finally giving us the real story after the Valentine brothers. As a whole it's definitely a Yes for me I love the idea that were getting the story we all want and more importantly were also getting amazing animation to go along with it. This a series that people need to support with their wallet let the people know that we want more series like this, we want trigun and Berserk revisited and completed. This is the step in the right direction as far as I am concerned.
