The second one was definitely better. More characters and bigger stages, what's not to like?

The second game was great due to the number of characters, but the story was non-existant, just a tool to allow you to play characters from different factions. Which is fine for gameplay reasons, but not fun from a story perspective.
Hopefully this game will have a great presentation for the series story line and a huge selection of characters making it the best one yet. |

Well the second one didn't have much to work with. It came out around the time the anime was airing the second post time skip arc. Meanwhile the first one had everything before new world to work with which is a lot of story content. Personally I don't buy these games re-experience the story (I have the anime and manga for that) I buy them to run around wrecking everyone in my path with my favorite One Piece characters. However if they managed to come up with a decent original story then that would be icing on the cake.
