Whenever I attempt to edit this post I get a message saying that "[the] message is too large too post".

What's going on here???!!!

Huh, that's strange it sound similar to what I reported, except after I try to edit my post it wouldn't show the confirmation page at all. But let me see.

EDIT: Testing 1...2...3

EDIT 2: Nope, just tested the editing function, I don't have any problem like you describe.

I can no longer add links -- I keep on getting a message saying that the post is too large.







Edit: Is there a limit to the number of characters that a post is allowed to have?

There is a limit.
The default for phpBB3 is 60,000, but it is configurable.

I am sure that Tempest, or somebody, will tell you what is is set at here.

I suspect that you will probably have to split that post.

EDIT: It looks to me like the post that you want to edit is only slightly over 40,000 characters, including the formating code.
I checked because I was just curious.

The limit is 65535 characters (2^16 - 1), including special formatting added for bcode tags which you do not see when editing the post. So in reality your post starts with

I have no idea why phpbb is built that way, but it really adds up. In your case it's a 62% overhead. So what about removing all the bold tags?
