Interesting. Is this the first time an anime has been dubbed for an online only release?

I'm happy for the show's fans.

Actually, William Winckler will not be dubbing this. This is utilizing the original 80's, virtually uncut dub of Minky!

So you're safe. Wink

=================================================

and thanks, Here-and-Faraway... This show... this particular audio track and English production.... Its been the stuff of internet legend for years!

{Combined a double-posting. ~nbahn}

No, it's uncommon, but this has happened a few times before, where a dub has premiered online with the possibility of a physical release up in the air.

A recent example I can think of is that chibi-Rock Lee spinoff of Naruto. Viz started streaming a dub months ago, and it seems it'll stay that streaming-only for the foreseeable future, since Viz has yet to announce any kind of DVD release.

Not at all! With a faithful dub and virtually the first five episodes edited together, this is the first of several that will comprise the ENTIRETY of Minky Momo!

Zoids Genesis was going to get one with Toonami Jetstream but Jetstream went bottoms up and the dub never showed up. I think Megaman Star Force was also in a similar situation. I know it never aired in Canada in any form.

The first few episodes of Stardust Crusaders 2014 were dubbed on Crunchyroll but nothing more's surfaced.

Old school anime getting dubbed is something that will really have a nostalgia factor for some people.

This and everything to do with the release format is the choice of Production Reed as well as making Minky available dub-only for now

Ehhhh, should have just grabbed the Minky Momo movie. This "episodes cut into pointless films" shit doesn't really fly anymore. If someone wants the TV show, they're likely going to want all 63 episodes.

Nothing pointless about cutting out virtually only the endings and closings. This release, if it sells well (!!!) WILL comprise all 63 episodes just in a nontraditional format
