More Free!? I can't complain. Easily one of my all time favorite series, so. I know it's kind of meh story wise, but damn the charm of the boys just makes it so good lol.

Keep milking the cow KyoAni.

On a more serious note, I hope Takemoto doesn't direct this. I would rather he continue his tradition of directing stuff outside of KyoAni's publishing imprint like Kadokawa novels and such.

Please, please for the love of all things good, please don't be a stage play or a live action.
Could a screen project mean either of those? Sorry for my ignorance.

Would be awesome if they made a S3 or maybe even a sequel movie.

The anime ended perfectly after S2, and we already have a prequel movie. I don't think we need more Free! in anime format. KyoAni should rather dedicate the energy to a new project (and something better than Phantom World, please).

映像 means video, so it won't be a stage play. And Shimazaki (Haruka's seiyuu) said, "It looks like I'll get to spend a bit more time with Haruka," so that rules out a live action treatment.

It could be short animated videos, like the FrFr! shorts that came with the early DVDs, it could be a Season 3, or it could be the Olympics movie many of us are expecting to come now that the necessary High Speed! characters have been introduced (in the novels, Ikuya's character has a strong desire to go to the Olympics; since he's a breaststroke swimmer, popular opinion is that he would be the breaststroke swimmer on a relay team of Haruka and Rin [and for that matter, another High Speed! character, Nao, is a backstroke swimmer]).

Agreed. I love this show for its self-awareness of the genre plus the surprising depth they gave the characters.

Wow, we'll never be truly free from this series am I right? Laughing
And, well, I honestly wouldn't mind if it were a movie about the Olympics, but I was hoping for an all-new cast and history, although Nobunaga's statement about him playing Haruka for a bit more quite rules out this possibility, huh.

Given how S2 ended, they could still make one more iteration about Haru and Rin competing internationally (maybe even the Tokyo Olympics?) and if they do it right I don't think it'd feel unnecessary or forced

It's just that I think any Olympics-themed story would be more fit to air around 2019 or winter/spring 2020, when I expect big-dream sports anime to feature a lot more anyway.

Please let it be an Olympic movie or series. A lot of people have wanted that for a long time.

i loved free and free ES but at this point i really think they're beating a dead horse.

i'll watch it if its like, a new swim team with all new characters but idk what more they can do with the existing cast bc the majority of them have graduated (though i definitely wont turn down a rinharu olympic movie)
