Flip Flappers felt like someone made a show just for me. That first episode had everything I like about anime, plus some kind of tickle robot.
I enjoyed Sound! Euphonium 2: Acoustic Boogaloo, but clearly not as much as Nick Creamer did. Is it weird that I'm not thrilled with this series despite being a big fan of yuri subtext shows? Show By Rock!!# had some genuinely interesting moments, but not enough to make me want to spend another season with these characters. I'm definitely going to be watching Wixoss, and since I'm too far behind on both Iron Blooded Orphans and Diamond is Unbreakable to catch up before the end of this season, I guess that makes just three shows for me this Fall. |

The atmosphere in Keijo!!!!!!!! reminds me a bit of Monster Girls--good dumb fun. Also Jacob's review took me a second to understand, but then I laughed.
Not sure it will hold up long term, though. The fanservice isn't for me, and there's a lot of comedy in the butt themes, but once the comedy wears off I'm not sure there's much else. Yuri on Ice is awesome and I like all the characters. I'm also amazed at how well animated the figure skating scenes were. I hope they can keep up that artistry. |

I was going to say "no" on this question, but Azmodeus's argument is an angle I hadn't considered. What should be added to that, though, is that Keijo (I refuse to use all those exclamation points!) shows no signs so far of being a nudity-fest or containing any of the other super-racy elements that QB had. While it is a blatant fan service show, I'd put it on the tamer side of the spectrum. QB, OTOH, was the standard-setter for the other side of the spectrum. |

While the art style and combat ( and gore hell yeah ) in Drifters is cool I couldn't help that something felt "off". I think my problem here is the series composition that doesn't seem to mash well.
I was quickly immersed into the story which I really find interesting by the way but these drastic mood changes with comedy that fell flat ( for me ) kinda destroyed the mood :/ The ending is a visually feast to watch and it reminds me a lot of Mob Psycho 100's ending. So yeah I overall enjoyed yet I couldn't help but have a weird feeling throughout the entire thing 3.5 from me  !

I didn't find the comedic interludes all that jarring. I did like the part where they were picking on Toyohisa for being from the country. Between Drifters and Yuri on Ice, it seems not expecting comedy in a generally serious show is a little detrimental to one's enjoyment of it. But the combat scenes and the gore were par excellence, and the story is engrossing. A great addition to what has become a dark fantasy timeslot, with Berserk and Ushio and Tora preceding it.

I went in knowing full well of Keijo!!!!!!!!. I evenly highly anticipated Keijo!!!!!!!!. I am glad to have finally seen Keijo!!!!!!!!.
A little upset by them skipping ahead so many chapters, so the in media res was pretty confusing especially to the uninitiated. I actually enjoyed the early character building from the manga before it dove right into the silliness. But overall the first episode did not disappoint. Props to the Japanese voice actresses; Nozomi's was especially befitting her character. Queued before arrival. Let's see, what else did I watch... Show By Rock!!# I did not know was the sequel, so I did not know what was going on. Probably should get around to the original, but after seeing this I'd best leave it be. Pass. I kept waiting and waiting for the ball to drop on Magical Girl Raising Project; sadly all I got was a bloody teaser opening and a cliffhanger after credits. So all I got was a middle school girl becoming a magical girl from her smartphone, doing cute things, and running into her gender-confused friend from childhood. The feeling of ominous is there, but nothing to note in the first episode. Despite that, I'm intrigued enough to want to watch the next episode. Just a bad first episode basically. Queued...for now. NANBAKA...no. Just...no. Pass. Don't have Hulu anymore and I ain't paying the membership fee, so no Matoi the Sacred Slayer unfortunately. Reluctant pass. Going into FLIP FLAPPERS I was sadly disappointed that this did not revolve around the Flapper Girl era of the 1920s-30s. So much lost potential. Beyond that, this was an excellent looking show and a well-made first episode. I might not know what the hell it's about or what's going on, but my interest has been piqued enough to continued forward with this title. Queued. Thus far this is all I've got. Just two titles remaining, maybe a third or fourth, and I'll have my queue list ready to go. |

Ikki Tousen (at least the first season, anyway - I never saw the later ones) was never as extreme as QB. Not even close. It's been so long since I've seen Agent Aika that I can't comment on that one, as I don't clearly remember it. |

Agent Aika was notable primarily for being filmed in "up skirt cam". The view point was mostly floor level. Also famous for the hero having a "semi sentient battle bustier" that transformed her into a super powered individual. |

The Great Guardians season came close. That was season 3. There was a definite increase in the amount of naked boobs in that season compared to 1 & 2. Extreme Executor, season 4, had a lot too but I still think GG takes the cake from the 4 seasons. Where as QB had that much in all of it's seasons. The "extra" OVA little bits had yet even more. So I'd say QB was definitely in my mind the natural progression of a show like Ikki Tousen, or Samurai Girl/Bride for another example. Now I see QB as sort of the measuring stick other shows try to emulate in terms of fighting to boo ration. Stuff like Senran Kagura for example definitely took that model and ran with it. Then you have shows like Valkyrie Drive & Testament of Sister New Devil who take that model to a whole new level. As for Agent Aika....it definitely has them all beat in panty shots. Though that really doesn't come close to rivaling what shows will show you, or far they'll go with the T&A, anymore. Hell, stuff like Agent Aika or Najica Blitz Tactics is charming by today's standards. |

There's also Najica Blitz Tactics, kind of a spiritual successor to Agent Aika. Same artist, same character faces, same panty shot theme. Took on more of a Bond premise than the original one. I made an AMV of it once. It was synched to farts. You may have seen it on AMV Hell 4. |

Drifters is R-rated action schlock with no pretense of being anything more,and I LOVE IT FOR THAT! It's well directed,and it has great productions values and music.The comedy was a bit annoying,but it was only done during the exposition scenes and not during the fights.Definitely the popcorn show of the season.

Yeah yeah I got it. Sorry. I've been coming off of a three-year long string of crushing suicidal depression (hence why I stopped watching anime for a long while and rarely posted here after originally posting damn near every day), and I just had a mental breakdown yesterday. I find it hard to watch anime (or do much of anything) anymore due to the depression. Sorry. It wont happen again. |

I'm almost! Caught up! Still a few shows that got lost in the shuffle of the week but hopefully I'll be ready when episodes 2 start airing...tomorrow...whoops.
Yuri!!! On Ice singlehandedly saved the season for me. Not that there weren't some good shows so far but this one cinched an easy favorite from me. I love the characters, I love the style and energy and attention to detail in the animation and direction. I love how gracefully it builds a sense of place just through the people that inhabit Yuri's world, and that's to say nothing of the lovely ice skating animation. Couldn't be more excited to see the rest of this. Flip Flappers was a little shakier, but it's still some stellar execution. The dreamlike atmosphere and logic of it all left me really charmed where a weaker visual realization might have just left me confused. The ED has this wonderful atmosphere of a fairy tale adventure (like, the original Grimms' tales and all the darker, nastier jagged edges that usually get cured away) and I hope the show moving forward can keep up that experience. This has the potential to be something really unique. Drifters is some good ol' fashioned blood 'n' guts so far, and if nothing else it was an entertaining first episode. I wish the comedy down time hadn't been quite so long, but the whole setup seems rife for a ton of bloody action and the animation teams seems to have a strong sense of impact and speed even if it's not the most fluidly animated thing in the world. Definitely a keeper. Nanbaka surprised me with how much I liked it. The garish design and loud comedy made me think this would be a slog, but it was remarkably pleasant and got more than a few laughs from me. I don't know how much I'll get out of it moving forward, but I'm at least sticking around for a couple more episodes. The last couple seasons have delivered really well on comedies with Sakamoto and Handa-kun and I'd like that patterned to continue. Sound! Euphonium S2...did not need to be double length. I imagine this would be pleasing to folks who are more enamored with the extended cast than I am, but spent the first half of the premiere waiting for some form of conflict to appear. I don't demand every show have a car chase but c'mon, I need a little more to chew on than cute train rides and eating ice cream. There were still some worthwhile moments, and the show is as gorgeously realized as ever, but I hope this isn't the approach moving forward. Matoi The Sacred Slayer was...okay? It had some nice moments, I like the overall designs and the fact that Matoi's dad and other adults looks to be playing a bigger part in the magical shenanigans, but maaaaaan did those ending jokes (haha, her dad groped her! now she's naked!) leave a bad taste in my mouth. I'll give it another episode or two to win me back, but I'm not exactly thrilled for more. TRICKSTER sure is a show, I guess. I watched it yesterday but already barely remember what happened or what any of the characters are. Mostly I just recall a sensation of mild boredom by occasionally laughing at unintentionally hilarious lines. Hard pass. Keijo!!!!!!!! was about as lame as it gets though. I'm not big on ecchi or fanservice-focused shows, but I'm not totally against the premise. And this show at least avoids the gross shame aspect of, say, Wanna Be The Strongest In The World, which was nice. But it's got exactly 1 joke, and "what if sports shouen cliches BUT WITH BUTTS" does not have a great shelf life for me. I found myself checking out pretty quick and by the end of it I was actively skipping ahead. No thanks. |

Yeah, that's true but I have a feeling that I will be seeing more than a little of Hellsing Ultimate in Drifters and whether that's good or not has yet to be seen The comedy also really clashed though I will admit that seeing Nobunaga argue with Toyohisa about the Sengoku Era was amusing |
