Just a heads up, FLCL Progressive is premiering at Midnight now, not 11:30.

It's funny the fact that Kazuto Arai started his career at Studio Trigger, but the studio itself will not be involved. Arai is a freelancer now. I say this because surely, however much they have invested, the work will not be as before without the creative team that once belonged to Gainax.

So the way this is being termed here makes it appear that Tsurumaki kept saying no to making a sequel, over and over, for years - but then once they found they could get the rights to it, I.G. went and got those, and did it anyway, against his wishes.

There has been a fair bit of anger about this elsewhere, which I can understand. Seeing as how Tsurumaki is providing supervision (and provided what seems like pretty good advice) and Sadamoto is on board, perhaps it's not actually that bad, although it could just as well be out of a sense of obligation. So I do wonder if it's not quite so simple as them just being a bunch of jerks or whatever.
