The PV says it's coming in 2018, did they delay it because of the issues they had with the novel's illustrator?

A delay, huh? Well, I’m fine with it as long as it can mean better handling of the show’s animation and not have it be rushed. Fall already looked pretty big before this news, so having one less show to watch in that time period won’t hurt all that much.

I'm guessing that's probably the case. Anyways, really good news to have at last an airing date. Was hoping for Fall but I guess Winter doesn't hurt either. I'm sure this one will be among my top picks for 2019.

My understanding is that the previous 2000 series was something like the second novel (which made it a tad confusing in places), and this is starting with the first novel. Is that correct?

Boogiepop Phantom was an original story written to take place after the first novel "Boogiepop and Others". The actual second novel is something else, but in the sense of being a followup to the first then sure Phantom can be considered "something like" a second novel, lol.

Oh thank god. I was starting to worry this got cancelled, what with the character design controversy.

I am definitely looking forward to this. BoggiePop Phantom is still one of my favorite shows despite it's age. My only concern with this one is if they make it too "bright" visually. The darker colors and animation in Phantom helped to set the mood for the show.

Hopefully the delay gives them time to make the art direction more melancholy.

I am so beyond excited for this. I've been waiting for more Boogiepop for 10 years.

And books 4 and 5 are finally available in English now digitally. I'm going to reread the first 3 books and pick those up asap.
