Um, can I find out why our comments were moved to the Made in Abyss thread?

It was an accident. Kind of a SNAFU. Working on fixing it, but new posts should show up here normally.

Good to know that the bold but risky choice of focusing the story on not the leads of Sound! Euphonium but two of it's supporting characters (and ones that didn't come in prominence until the second season at that) payed off big time.

Huh. I've never watched Euphonium, but I guess I better add this movie to my to-watch list.

Wow that's an exceptional score for an exceptional movie! Also that was a beautiful write up. Made me relive the experience from seeing it at AX. Would highly recommend checking it out in theaters this weekend.

I want to see this movie so badly, but no theaters that are close to my vicinity are showing it. Sad My only hope is to wait for a Blu-Ray home video release, but who knows how long that will take?

I am living in Japan right now, and there is no nearby theatres playing it other than this one that take 1 hour to get to and will cost 1000Yen one way. Is it worth it?

If you like very emotional and sentimental films about tender friendship or subtle romance (this is Yamada’s adolescence, so decide for yourself) between schoolgirls, then yes. I have not watched the movie yet, but judging by the responses, this is definitely one of KyoAni's best works.

Big question: Do I need to watch any or all of Sound! Euphonium in order to appreciate this film? I enjoyed Yamada's A Silent Voice, and am eager to check out her follow-up.

As I said in the missing comments, the film is a separate and completed work, but the franchise will help to better understand the context and the overall setting of the title's universe. But if you are only interested in this film, then you won’t lose much if you watch it first.

And it's going to be Pony Canyon who will release it in the US. They are notoriously slow and notoriously pricey.

I never finished Euphonium, I found it kind of boring. But despite how that sounds, I actually liked the show, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
