Man, the first GG is weird. It's interesting, yes, but trying to play it now just feels weird and a little offsetting, like eating a dish consisting of tasty sauce atop undercooked pasta.

This isn't incorrect, but GG1 does still hold up fairly well today, or at least I felt it did when I dove back into it a few years ago. The gameplay is still fast, fun, & furious, the music is still outstanding, the mechanics aren't completely different than the later games (some of the same mechanics are there, just under different names), and Justice remains one of the absolute coolest boss fights ever in a fighting game. Sure, she's insanely cheap & downright broken, but at least she actually feels like the godly creature that she's hyped up to be, and her theme just matches that feeling excellently. Hopefully, though, this re-release of GG1 makes it much easier to fight Baiken (who was the super-secret boss, ala Akuma in Super SFII Turbo), because I've never had the chance to actually fight & unlock her, and I hear she's pretty much just as insane to fight as Justice is in that game.

That banning rule is really stupid. That would be like going to see a basketball game where the starters weren't allowed to play their usual positions. Sure, the players might have enough skill and understanding of the game not to be terrible, but people want to see players competing at their best.

Nintendo selling a lots in winter days and even games sold very fast was the most amusing things i've ever seen. I hope Nintendo Switch could be an one day an household console and the biggest Nintendo seller frontier of all time.

Also, Switch is also the best place for an JRPG/Visual Novels and Indie devlelopers to release their games on this kind of console. I love to see how Nintendo Switch is becoming an AAA title kingdom to this day. Very Happy

-Street Fighter V: CAPCOM, enough with pandering to the e-Sports scene, it's become embarrassing.

-GG: Yeah, the first one is...it's definitely a prototype of elements that would be refined in later titles.

-Nintendo: Yeah, the Switch just keeps racking up sales. As for the improved Switch rumors, I have my doubts. It sounds more like the wishful thinking of tech porn fetishists who don't get that Nintendo relies on design, not on processing power.

-RE2: Finally played the One Shot demo and as a veteran it's interesting to see how they managed to switch things up in the remake what with going to the East wing first, new rooms, new puzzles, etc and the zombies being WAY more durable. What's funny is I've seen some people claiming the improvement to the controls somehow waters down the experience. Ugh, sometimes I wonder about people

Fighting game bans isn't a terrible idea, but it's a completely different sport. It's like the decathlon vs. individual events. The idea of a fighting game competition that values breadth isn't absurd, but is there any pre-existing interest in the idea?

The games seemed to do well for XSEED, so how exactly did these titles manage to get away from them? We may not know, but I feel like it's probably a situation similar to certain high profile anime licenses of the licensor expecting too much.

This is entirely speculation on my part, but I always felt that XSEED just didn't have the resources to really promote the Trails games beyond the bare minimum. So maybe Nihon Falcom is thinking that another company is going to do a bit more to get the new game in front of more potential fans.

Loved the demo for Re2, really enjoyed how they switched it up As much as I loved the original RE2, I never found it or any of the original ones to be scary (the remake of 1 fixed that). I never felt threatened in those since your were given such an insane amount of ammo to deal with everything, along with it's focus on jump scares, which are just cheap.

I'm in the same boat. I don't actually consider the RE series to be a horror series. They are survival (and this continued even when the series went the action-survival route) because of having to manage limited inventory, ammo, medicine, etc, but despite being in a horror setting they lack the sense of fear. Tense, yes, but tension isn't the same thing as fear. And don't even get me started on the tank controls that artificially make things more difficult.

Furthermore, even at the beginning of the franchise it always had a problem with wanting to have its cake and eat it, hence the plentiful ammo for dealing with bosses. Heck, bosses being in there in the first place is questionable.

- I can't believe how bad Capcom managed Street Fighter V, Pokken Tournament came arround the same time and had better sales and that was for the Wii U version. They made some improvements later with the DLC, but still it was too late for some people. I don't think a new SF is arriving soon, but if Capcom was smart I said they should pay attention to NetherRealm, people seem to like the new MK and they should make the game multiplatform, the exclusivity deal with Sony wasn't a smart move.
- It's great that Nintendo managed to sell so many Switches. Many people complain that they port too many games but looking at the sale numbers of some of them it makes sense. At least I hope that Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 will arrive soon, and although a mini Switch or a Pro version sounds interesting I doubt Nintendo will anounce anything this year.
- Resident Evil 2 looks amazing, I played the original several times and it was interesting to see how they incorporated elements from the proptotype. I'm only dissapointed that Capcom didn't dub this game into Latin-American Spanish, especially when other AAA games like Overwatch, God of War and Spider-Man were dubbed with some of the best voice actors from Mexico. It has an European Spanish dub, but the dialect is so different that I rather play it in English (or Japanese) with subtitles.

Most people who want to play multiple characters in a fighting game gravitate to team-driven fighting games like DBFZ, KoF, BBTag, etc. The meta in those games is very different from single-character games like Street Fighter.

Pokken Tournament and Street Fighter V's launch sales were pretty much the same their lifetime sales are also pretty much the same.

Almost every mortal Kombat game is liked initially and trails off after a short period after release why would Capcom take cues from Neatherrrealm eaepcially when most of the fcg considers the Street Fighter games to be better than the Mortal Kombat games?

Ummmm SFV was cross platform and the only people who raised a big stink about that was Xbox One owners who didn't own a PC or PS4 and they largely got over that.....due to some of the aforementioned issues with the launch version of the game.

I actually like the idea of banning characters in the fighting scene, forcing them pocket picks. One thing I really hated was constantly seeing the "high tier" characters being picked over and over, having little debt of strategy. Mr. Karate in King of Fighters, Akuma in Street Fighter, Gen Fu in Dead or Alive, Fox in Smash Bros, etc. and while I get that some put a lot of work into it, it becomes boring to watch in the long run as in League of Legends you got strategy and "this guy is too good with THAT character, so we can't let him have it, thus forces us to risk giving them "that character", but that might give us "this character"" which becomes even more interesting when you make it a team game and you have to balance out those elements. This is why I like to watch people like Sonic Fox play, because he constantly pick up the newest character, like Marie-Rose in DoA or Geralt in SCVI, and then proceeds to win tournaments with it. To use their freshness as the competitive edge as people are less familiar with the setup and must adapt (and often fail to) on the fly. Now, his toxicity aside (he's young), this is the sort of attitude that is needed to keep it fresh and entertaining. No other e-sports scene has such a static scene as that of the fighting game community. It will also force those "mainers" into showing their complete mastery of the game, while also giving newcomers a chance to enter the scene, as the veterans usually stick with their character forever, while the new blood pick up the new chars.

This is essentially what has been lacking in the fighting scene. Normally it boils down to 1v1s, and you feel people haven't mastered the game more than mastering that one character. If anything you are not pushing those people as hard as you are other pros. Keep in mind that changing a character in most fighters with a roster of 50 characters usually have lots of replicas. Ok, is Akuma gone? My sides, you got Ryu, Evil Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Freaking Dan (joke), or all those "Kazamas" like Jin, Devil Jin, Devil, Heyhatchi, etc. which is a different issue that should be addressed that will counteract this approach, but that's for another discussion.
