Man, i didn't even know furry/kemono in Japan is becoming mainstream these days. It's like a Japan is breaking their cultural barrier of its human-washing designs in recent years.

I know other furry/kemono stuff made in commercial include:
Fullbokko Heroes (featured a lot of kemono before it closes down in 2019)
Fugue of the Battlefield (currently in development in 2019)
Pop n Music
Paperman (2010-2017)

Furry/anthro stuff in Japan has literally always been mainstream and popular.

You might be just joking, but it's a real concern. Studio Trigger seems to be getting into a habit of releasing works with suspicious similarities to other projects, and not acknowledging (or paying) the originals in any way. A certain amount of this can be explained away as coincidence in a creative industry, but every time it happens that defense gets weaker.

It's nice seeing an anime with antropomorphic animals, I think they were more common in the 70s and 80s like Sherlock Hound and Spaceship Saggitarius, maybe you could argue that Aggretsuko is a show with funny animals but to me Sanrio's mascot characters are very different from anime and manga.
