"Beginning" of a New Chapter...

Hey if it's as good as the original series and Rebellion I'm all for more so long as the quality doesn't suffer. AND we don't have to wait as long as we did for them to even just officially announce the sequel.

Only thing I needed to read was Urobuchi. I'm in!
What makes me especially curious is that this is a script that he wrote shortly after Rebellion. So it's new AND classic Madoka at the same time!

I’m curious as to whether this will retcon the events of Rebellion.

I still don't know what to make of the fact they told us all this time Urobuchi was done with the franchise, and now it turns out he already wrote a sequel years ago. And... this trailer didn't really tell us much besides the title. So I guess we'll have to wait and see.

"Retcon" is a funky word. It's very obvious that the new status quo at the end of Rebellion can't last very long, considering spoiler[the psychological toll it seems to be taking on its creator as she tries to keep Madoka under her thumb while simultaneously doing her job for her.] In that sense, I think we can fully expect the story to change course pretty drastically.
But if you mean "retcon" in the sense that you think they will try to bury the events of Rebellion and pretend they never happened... I can say with full confidence that Urobuchi despises that kind of writing, so it won't happen. Rebellion will likely be the very foundation of this new work and essential to any works that come in the future.
